The White Flash

Chapter 10

Itsumiko woke to a knock on her door. She groaned and tried to pull the covers over her head. She heard the door open and the covers were pulled off of her. She curled up into a ball, not expecting the cool wind from the ac to hit her.

"Come on Itsu, we need to go," Kakashi said. She lifted her head up to see it was a little past noon.

"Oh come on, just a little longer," She asked. He shook his head and took her covers with him.

"Oh come on! That's not fair!" She yelled out to him. She begrudgingly got up and got dressed. She walked out and saw Kakashi waiting by the door. She glared at him and he patted her head.

"It'll be okay my dear," He said and they walked out. She put her hands into the pockets of her shorts and trailed behind her dad. He kept looking behind him to make sure she was still following him. By the time they got to the bridge, Naruto and Sakura were all worked up.

"You guys are late!" They yelled at them.

"Sorry, we had to help an old lady walk across the road," Kakashi said. Sakura crossed her arms and Naruto huffed.

"I called you all here because the Chunin Exams are tomorrow," He said. Naruto looked at him with glee.

"Really! Wait, what are the Chunin Exams?" He asked. Itsumiko sighed.

"It's a three part test to see if we get to be Chunin's or not," she said. Naruto got excited again. Kakashi handed them the forms.

"Now if you decide to participate, be at the academy at eight tomorrow and head to the third floor," He said and he disappeared. Sasuke left and then it was just the three of them. They walked through the village and Itsumiko saw a box following them, or more so, Naruto.

"Hey uh, Naruto? There's a box following you," She said. The three of them stopped and looked at it. Naruto tried running back and forth but the box wouldn't stop following him.

"Alright this is a pathetic attempt at hiding!" Naruto yelled at it.

"Wow you're pretty slick boss," The kid said from inside. Suddenly the box poofed a bunch of smoke and three kids were coughing.

"I think we used too much gun powder you guys," he said. They started doing introductions and found out the kids were Konohamaru, Moegi, and Udon.

"Really? You are training three kids?" Itsumiko asked Naruto. He rubbed the back of his head. Konohamaru saw Sakura and looked at Naruto.

"Woah, who is she Boss? Is she your girlfriend?" He asked him. Naruto just chuckled in response. Sakura didn't like that and hit Naruto into the wall. She started to walk away but Konohamaru got on her bad side.

"Man, is she even human? And her forehead, it's so big," He said. Sakura stopped in her tracks and looked back at them. Itsumiko started to walk in the opposite direction, not wanting to watch it anymore. She saw two people ahead of her, but she saw Konohamaru run past her and into a guy wearing a black jumpsuit with something on his back.

"Watch where you're going you brat," He said. Itsumiko walked up to where she wasn't far from them. The guy grabbed Konohamaru by his scarf and held him up.

"Kankuro, we don't have time for this. You know he will be here shortly and we don't want to upset him," The girl said.

"Why don't you pick on someone your own size," Itsumiko said. Kankuro let go of the kid and looked at her.

"What are you going to do about it?" He asked her. All they saw was a white flash and she was behind him with a kunai to his neck. She saw him reach for the strap that held his puppet. She moved the kunai to where it was touching his neck.

"Ah ah, don't you move," She said. Naruto and Sakura ran up to them.

"Itsumiko, what are you doing?" Sakura asked her.

"What are you doing here?" She asked them. The girl showed her credentials.

"My name is Temari, his name is Kankuro and we come from the Sand Village," She said. Kankuro grabbed the puppet from his back and Itsumiko flashed in front of him. She held the tip of the kunai right at his Adams Apple.

"Kankuro, this is not a good idea. Do you know who she is? And we don't want to make him mad," Temari said. Sand wrapped around Itsumiko's hand and squeezed until she dropped her weapon. She looked up and saw a guy with red hair on the branch above them.

"Enough," He said.

"Gaara, s-she started it," Kankuro said. The sand dispersed from her hand.

"Really? You grabbed a kid by his throat and I started it?" She said. Gaara formed from sand in front of her.

"I'm sorry for his actions. We will leave you alone, for now," He said.

"And Itsumiko Hatake, I would hate to see you during the exams," Temari said. She furrowed her eyebrows at them. How did they know who she was?

"Itsu, how do they know you?" Sakura asked her. She shook her head.

"I have no idea," She said. They walked away and she went home. She walked in and saw her dad.

"Dad, I had an interesting experience today," She said. Her dad lowered his book.

"Oh yeah?" He asked.

"These sand kids that are here for the exams, they knew my name," She said.

"Well, you made quite a name for yourself during the mission to the Land of Waves," He said.

"How? I barely did anything," She asked him. Kakashi set down his book and motioned for her to sit. She walked over and sat next to him.

"It doesn't take much in this world to make a name for yourself. It could be the tiniest thing or a major thing and word flies," He explained to her.

"The fact that you're fast and all people see is a white flash when you move, they haven't seen that since the Fourth Hokage. Your speed plus your jutsu and how you use it, that makes people talk," He told her. She looked down.

"Is it like Naruto? That he holds the Nine-Tails within him?" She asked. Kakashi nodded his head.

"They know the Nine-Tails is here in the Leaf but his name was never released. The only people who know are the ones who were here during the attack. Outside of the Leaf, there are some suspicions on who it is," He said. Itsumiko nodded her head. Kakashi patted her shoulder.

"Get some rest, the exams are tomorrow and you can't be late for it," He said. They said goodnight to each other and they went to bed. She had a feeling about the exams but she knew it was just nerves. She rolled over and closed her eyes, trying to force herself to sleep.
