Chapter 34

In been two weeks since Karishma's emotional outburst, she has made sure she stays occupied at work so she has less time at home. Whenever she was at home, she had an cold and aloof attitude towards Haseena where they exchanged just a couple of words at the dinner table. Her behavior has changed; she has become the same Karishma who kept minimal interaction when Haseena moved to Canada. As Haseena attempted to initiate the conversation at some point, Karishma ended it with a brief response without taking it further. As a result, Haseena was unable to understand her sudden change of behavior.

Haseena came home from work one evening and called “Pushpee Hum aa gaye”

But as she didn’t get any responses she entered living room and was stunned to find Karishma watching TV lying on the sofa.

Haseena came near her and asked “Aap is waqt yaha kya kar rahi hai”

Karishma learned about Haseena's presence and without looking at her replied in a sarcastic tone, "Modiji ko facetime kar rahi thi, you wanna join."

“Ha humari taraf se salam jarur kar dijiyega”said Haseena sarcastically.

Hearing her response, Karishma's eyes widen, she was about to say something, but stopped herself and returned her attention to the TV, while Haseena noticed that and became somewhat irritated.

Haseena took a deep breath and said “Humara matlab tha aam tor par aapka schedule late hota hai isliye pucha…… While keeping her hand on her waist she continued "Aur majal hai k kabhi aap aam logo ki tarah baat karle toh.”

Karishma completely ignored her and continued watching TV while Haseena sighed and asked “Waise pushpee kaha hai”

“Amma kaam se bahar gayi hai out of city aur vo kal subha tak aayengi” replied Karishma coldly.

Haseena facepalmed herself and said “ Ha unohne hume bataya tha humare hi zehn se nikal gaya”

Karishma continued to ignored her while Haseena was heading towards her room when she stopped and asked “Waise khane ka kya karna hai hum banai ya bahar se order karna hai”?”

 “Aama khana banake gayi hai tumhe sirf garam kar ke lena hoga” replied Karishma with same cold tone.

Haseena said, "Toh hum freshens up hoke aate hai saath mai khana kha lenge" looking at Karishma who was completely engrossed in television and showed no reaction to what she said. Haseena shook her head and then left for her room

After some time, Haseena arranged dinner at the dining table and called Karishma, and they both had dinner quietly. Haseena attempted to initiate the conversation, but Karishma didn't respond much. After she finished eating, Karishma moved to the kitchen to keep her plate.

As Haseena finished her dinner, she followed Karishma into the kitchen and saw her busy cleaning dishes.

Without taking a look at Haseenaa, Karishma said, "Mai kar lungi dishes, you can go and rest."

Haseena suggested "Aap clean kar k dedijye hum wipe kar ke rakh dete hai, Kaam jaldi hoga"

While both of them were doing their work quietly, Haseena felt uncomfortable with the silence between them. This was because she had become accustomed to Karishma's banter over small things, as well as her sarcasm, in short everything about Karishma.

In an attempt to break the silence, Haseena asked "Pushpee nahi hai toh ghar khali khali sa lag raha hai na"

Karishma just nodded in agreement, Haseena was obviously disappointed by the response and tried to look at Karishma but her face was all stern without any expression.
