(Jonathan POV [A few hours earlier])

"End your stream! End your stream!"

I check chat. Everybody's been chanting for what feels like hours.

Chat:

END STREAM

End the stream m8

Nooo dont goooo

End stream

NoOooOoOo

END THE STREAM

"Jonathan, just end the stream! You know they all want you to!" Mendez yells in his mic with auto-tune.

It had only been one hour since I started the stream. I was talking about the meetup and Mendez made a joke that he was getting bored.

Obviously chat wasn't bored, but they're kind of Mendez's minions, so they do whatever he wants.

They started asking me to end the stream for a bit. I just wanted to talk, but they kind of ruined it.

"Okay fine. Bye guys. That's how it'll be. Bye."

I end the stream, feeling half annoyed and half relieved. I probably wouldn't have been able to keep talking anyway, because I would still have that feeling that they just didn't want to listen.

I'm sure it wasn't intentional, because I know Mendez loves making jokes that half hurt people's feelings to the point they get mad and then he uses the 'we're friends' card and brushes it off and you don't care anymore.

I don't mind anymore, because he does it all the time.

I check discord and see that my friends are still in vc together, so I decide to join. "Jonathan!!" A little cheer goes around the vc when I join.

"Hi guys."

Mendez immediately starts explaining what's happening. "Okay, so we were playing truth or dare. Wanna join?"

I nod my head even though they can't see me. "I mean, I have nothing better to do."

A cheer rises in the call again and I laugh.

"Okay, there is one rule. You have to do whatever dare you get, or you owe the person a hundred dollars." Mendez explains.

Everyone in the call laughs. I shake my head.

"What? What kind of rule is that?"

Mendez breaks down laughing. "My kind of rule." I can vividly imagine him smiling like crazy. "Now let's play!"

After about an hour of playing, most of the people have left, and I still haven't done any dares yet. Only truths.

They did say that nothing done in the game was allowed to be told on stream, unless it was part of the dare, so I'm a little less scared.

"Jonathan! Your turn!"

I turn my head back to my computer screen that I was paying little attention to. There's not much to see though, since nobody has facecam.

It takes me a second, but I realise that only Frankie, Mendez and Payatos are there, leaving only four people in the call.

"Truth or dare?" Mendez asks, autotuned again.

"Truth."

"Come on, man. You haven't done a single dare since the game started." It's weird not to hear Payatos' voice echoing from the other room.

He's taking care of our grandma, and he's coming back tomorrow.

"Okay, fine. Dare." I say, crossing my fingers.

Trust issues? Really?

Mendez thinks for a second. "What's something funny and personal I can get you to do?"

His sarcastic voice makes the statement scarier. He might do it. But he might not. And I wouldn't leave it up to him to decide because of course he would.

"What's something that you've done recently? Oh yeah. You visited Yore." He's silent and then gasps.

"I got it! I think you said this but I don't remember very well. I think I was half asleep. Didn't you say that Yore and Acey knew each other?"

I take one shaky breath. I'll just tell him no. Yeah, I'll just do that. It's fine.

"I dare you to tell them who each other are."

My first thought is No, but then I remember Mendez's stupid rule. I'm not giving him a hundred dollars.

"That dare sucks."

"No it doesn't! Picture this though. Yore and Acey, on some romantic date and then boom. They both get a message and find out the person they're dating is the person they literally hate. That would literally be hilarious."

"Well I'm literally not doing that."

Mendez groans. "Okay. Pay up."

He's silent for a second and sighs.

"I mean you're missing out. It's not like they'll never find out. They're gonna have to figure it out at some point, so you might as well tell them and get that sweet reaction. You've got to admit, it will be super funny."

I tilt my head side to side. "That's some sick humour I guess."

"I mean, he's got a point." Frankie cuts in.

"Please Jonathan. It's only fair. You haven't done any dares, plus, it won't hurt them, they're just going to know the truth. The truth can't hurt, can it?"

I consider it for a second and the next thing I know, I've already created a chat group.

I hear Mendez laughing and talking to Payatos, who isn't saying anything back, but I'm not paying attention.

My mouse hovers over the send button.

"Are you done yet, Jonathan? Screen share once it's sent."

I'm silent as I click send and pray that they don't see it.
