Chapter 9: Campfire Dealings

Sonic sighed in relief, collapsing onto a log by the fire, Shadow had made, before being handed a mug of hot chocolate by Knuckles. The rest of the gang eventually joined, Sonic keeping an eye on his ruby eyed counterpart - who knew what that menace was planning behind the scenes.

As said hedgehog tried to sit by his friend, the bat hastily lifted her legs up onto the log. "Sorry Shads, sitting normally gives you wrinkles." She smirked. Shadow just growled "There's no where else to sit, shove over!" Rouge rolled her eyes, pointing to the empty 'seat' by Sonic. Shadow gave the bat a glare Sonic knew all to well. The 'you better watch your back because I'll get you at your weakest' glare.

Rouge smirked "You won't do nothin' hun." Shadow, began shaking with anger, finally sat beside Sonic. Sonic subconsciously shifted over, now practically sat on Tails, due to this - Shadow was probably the worst hedgehog to anger, he had a scar on his liver for proof.

Amy then took a seat next to Rouge, angering both Shadow and Sonic - Sonic wouldn't win either way though, it was either a hedgehog who hated him too much or a hedgehog who loved him too much. "Now then, is everyone settled?" Amy asked. The group nodded. "Yes, but me and Tails don't have a light." Amy sighed "I don't have a spare..."

Shadow suddenly stood up, scaring Sonic as he jumped and spilled his hot chocolate all over Tails - Shadow glaring at the hedgehog. The poor fox yelped. "SONIC!" He yelled "Sorry bud." Sonic awkwardly laughed, quickly getting a towel and passing it to his roommate. Shadow eventually came back, handing a candle encased in a glass box to the rabbit. "Be careful." He warned. "Thank you Shadow!" She smiled

"Awww Shadow, you have a soft spot for kids and chaos?" Sonic teased, dread overcoming him as he remembered Shadow was going to have to sit next to him. Shadow just sat down, not even looking at the hedgehog. This both confused and scared Sonic - forcing him to desperately beg Tails to swap seats with him. "No." Tails concluded, turning to Cream.

Sonic yelped as he was sharply kicked in the shin. The group was not even looking at him. Sonic turned and glared at Shadow, who was busying himself with his hot chocolate. "Hey!" Sonic glared "We're not fighting! It's a weekend!" Shadow put his cup down, it now being half full. "It isn't Sunday." He smirked. Sonic rolled his eyes. "This is meant to be a 'vacation'." Sonic pointed out. "Fine, I won't murder you so long as you don't push me to." Shadow stated, holding out his hand. "Fine." Sonic agreed, shaking Shadow's hand.
