Chapter 8: Arrival

Sonic was more than glad he had finally reached the outskirts of the forsaken forest. Knuckles and Rouge were fighting over a parking spot that was closer to the forest entrance whilst the others unloaded the cars, despite the fact their engines were still running.

Shadow shook his head at the two. "They'll be there all night." He simply stated "We might aswell go." Everyone obliged and followed except for Sonic.

Sonic couldn't understand Shadow at all. He claimed to be an enemy, worked for eggman and fought his friends, but he lived with Rouge and went on trips with the gang? How did Rouge still tolerate it? That was a mystery in and of itself - and would probably remain that way. Sonic could barely trust the ruby-eyed hedgehog.

"What's on your mind Blue?" Rouge suddenly appeared before Sonic, causing him to jump backwards and hit Knuckles. "Sorry!" He quickly shouted. Knuckles wasn't the best person when he was angry - especially when he was in Rouge's presence. Knuckles just continued forward, the other two following.

The three eventually caught up with the rest of the group. Knuckles then took charge and Shadow sagged behind in his usual way - groaning, scowling and muttering about the echidna. Sonic chose to ignore Shadow. He knew Shadow despised him more than anything. Even just the knowledge of Sonic being around would set off that bomb.

The group eventually found the cabin, Amy hastily running in, the group in tow. "Hey Sally!" Amy smiled "Long time no see, Rose!" A squirrel smirked back. The squirrel then turned tonthe rest of the group. "I haven't seen you guys in years!" She exclaimed "Wow... you guys look rough." She remarked. "We had a rough Sunday.' Knuckles growled, looking at Shadow.

Sally followed Knuckles gaze and focused on the ebony hedgehog. "I've never seen you before." She cocked her head to the side. "This is Shadow." Rouge smiled "He's... new?" "I'd say he overstayed his welcome." Knuckles retorted. Rouge snapped her head around and gave Knuckles a glare. "No, actually I met Sonic years ago." Shadow explained "We only really see eachother in battles or when Rouge drags me places."

Sally chuckled "I see, Rouge does have the tendency to drag people." "Say, how old were you and Sonic when you met?" She asked "Well...." Sonic began counting on his fingers "I was 16 meaning Shadow was 17." He answered. "She didn't need to know, hedgehog." Shadow growled. Sally rolled her eyes. "I see why you never talk about him." She remarked before handing the group a few keys. "Keys to the bathroom and the lodge incase of a storm. You guys are in zone B192, its a ten minute walk. Just follow the trail" Sally explained.

The group thanked the Squirrel and found their campsite. The group then set to work, building each of their tents and helping others if they needed it - Sonic especially needed the help.
