"Zack Miller please report to the front office."
The principal said emotionless.
I've never gotten a reaction from the man and I've been to the office plenty of times. For no good reason of course.
But what did Zack do this time? He goes to the principal nearly every day. Most of the time its because of me.
You see Zack is my boyfriend since last year. He's seventeen, a year older than me, but I love him the same. Age doesn't matter to me at all. He is constantly defending me from people who talk shit and sometimes punches are thrown.
People don't know how to stay quiet.
I waited for him by his locker.
I still wonder how he ever thought of dating me. I mean come on I'm not the most attractive girl in school, I have no social life. I practically don't exist.
"What happened this time?" I asked him as he walked up to me, fists clenched.
"They were saying stupid stuff about you." he said looking away.
Yes I practically don't exist but that doesn't stop them from trying to embarrass me.
"Don't listen to them. I don't care what they think. No need to get in trouble because of me."
He touched my cheek and half smiled. Then he leaned in and gave me a sweet kiss. Every time he does that I feel my feet off the ground. I think love him.
"I'll take you home."
Hand in hand we went to his car and drove to my house.
"Where are my keys?" Seriously I need to be more organized.
"Damn it I think I left them on my bed."
Zack laughed and knocked my house door.
My dad opened the door.
"Zack." He nodded.
"Mr. Evans, nice to see you again." Zack said politely.
No matter how much my parents hated him he never complained, just smiled and kept his head held high.
I grabbed Zack's hand and pulled him into the house.
"Scarlett I don't think that's a good idea." My father said to me.
Its never a good idea to them.
"I'm just going to give him his sweater."
Yeah, I constantly forget to take mine to school and he lent me his yesterday. Me, being me, forgot to return it.
"Scarlett? Come to the living room honey. We've got a surprise for you." My mom said loud enough for me to hear.
I pulled Zack with me.
"Yes mom?"
She has a grin printed on her face. So fake.
Two other people were with her. A woman and a man I didn't know. What does she want now?
Her grin faltered when she saw Zack.
The people with her raised their eyebrows at my hand holding Zack's.
"Can you get out of my house? We've got family problems to discuss." She said to Zack bitterly.
"Mom!"
I heard a chuckle. Next to the woman was a man, maybe Zack's age. I made a face.
"It's okay. I'll see you tomorrow." Zack squeezed my hand and gave me a peck on the lips.
