Three weeks after the whole messed up crap about my kidnap and Zack's trial, everything seems to be back to normal. Or as normal as it can be.
Miles and Scott have left the city. They left to their hometown, Michigan. Apparently their father had gotten sick and wouldn't last much.
Darius was detaching himself from the group. Every time we would have a get together he wouldn't accompany Mike.
The girls had become more serious and their boyfriends more overprotective. They hid under their wings. Mike and Ben seemed more mature.
While Del and I hadn't had any intimacy since the incident. Yeah, we tried, but every time I would have a flashback. Delany seemed annoyed by it now. True it has been a long time since the incident, but an almost rape isn't easy to forget.
Believe me it isn't.
Now I feel guilty for not being able to make Del happy the way I used to. He hasn't told me he loves me since the night of the incident. I know he does but its good to hear it.
Zack changed our lives.
*
Its Saturday morning and we haven't crossed a single word.
Delany and I are sitting on the same couch, but we were far enough away from each other to not be touching. There was some random TV show.
And I feel miserable.
With a sigh I was getting up to walk to our bedroom when the door bell rang.
"I'll get it." I said to Del, who just nodded and kept watching TV.
I was surprised when I found his parents on our door steps.
"Look at you! So pretty! I heard that I'll be a grandma! I'm so exited. Have you looked for names? It'll be a girl right? We should name her Heather, like my mom. Remember honey? That's a beautiful name." Delany's mom rambled. Then paused and turned to a shocked Del.
"Oh darling! Don't stay there gawking at us! Come and greet mom. God baby I missed you."
She engulfed Delany in a hug.
"Darling, let the kids breath." Mr. Thomson chuckled.
"Now, now. Down to business. The wedding will be next week. We have everything settled. You'll travel to Ireland and there you'll have the best wedding ever! All we need is your dress darling." Mrs. Thomson pointed a finger at me.
Our wedding. In a week. All the way to Ireland. Are they crazy?!
"Mom, don't you think that's too much?" Del asked.
Maybe he doesn't want to marry me anymore. Maybe he feels repulsed that Zack touched me. Maybe he hates me and our baby.
A tear fell down my cheek.
One look at Del and I saw hurt. He looked away.
He doesn't love me anymore!
I ran to our bedroom and locked myself in our bathroom. Slid down the floor and started sobbing.
"Why? Why?" I murmured.
Minutes later I heard a knock on the door.
"Scarlett. Let me in." Del demanded.
"Go away."
"If you don't open the damned door I'll knock it down. I mean it." he threatened.
I got on my knees and unlocked the door. Then fell down to the floor again. Burring my head into my hands. I felt him sit next to me.
