"Del you cant edit, I didn't even knew you read!"
Turns out Del's dad owns an editing business.
"I do read!" he fought as we entered the company.
"What? Your text messages?"
"Hey that's really mean! I'm not that stupid. Wait!" he stopped me before we got to the girl behind the desk, the receptionist. "Do you think I'm stupid?"
Thank god I listened to Erin and let her take Kyle home, its really hot in here. "Of course not, baby."
"Good, 'cause I'm not."
I kissed his cheek and he blushed. Why does he have to be so damn good looking?
"Hello, how may I help you?"
"Is Ben here?" Del went straight to the point.
The girl behind the counter made a face. "Mr. Thomson is in a meeting right now, would you like to come back later? Maybe leave a message?"
"Nah, I'll wait in his office." Del started to leave and I followed him.
"Excuse me, I'm afraid you cant do that sir."
"Why the hell not?" and he walked back to the girl.
"Business policy. Why don't you take a seat and wait here? I'm sure the meeting will end soon."
"I don't have all day you know?"
"I'm sorry but that's all I can do for you..." the girl trailed off. "I'll have to call security if you don't follow orders."
Delany laughed. I could only stare. Didn't she know who he was. I mean he might not work here but technically he owns a third of the company as well as Ben and Mike. Even though he never shows up. Or she might be a new employer...
Her phone rang, she nodded and made a sound of approval. "The meeting is done. Let me contact Mr. Thomson."
"Don't call him I'll go, I'm sure he can make some space for me."
"I'm afraid I cant do that." the girl grabbed the phone and dialed a number.
This is getting on my nerves. The sun is coming through the glass windows and I don't think there's any air conditioner down here.
"Mr. Thomson there's a man here who demands to see you." she nodded. Then put a hand over the phone and looked at Del. "Excuse me, what's your name?"
Del groaned and took the phone away from the girl. "Hey Ben, do you have some time?" Pause. "Okay I'll be up in a sec." he looked at the girl. "You need to get more competent people you know? I hate to be bossed around." Then he hung up.
"I boss you around." I pointed out.
"Yeah but you're my wife, that gives you all the privilege." Del winked.
"Idiot."
"I'm your idiot baby." He pulled my hand and led me to the elevators...I'm some what claustrophobic...
"Are there any stairs?"
"Don't be silly, Ben is on the seventh floor. I'm not walking that much."
Oh shit. Oh shit. Breath Scarlett, you can do this.
"Who are you?" I nearly had a heart attack. Slowly I turned to the girl.
"What?" I managed to say.
"Not you him!" she pointed at Del.
"Delany Thomson. Ben's younger brother." the elevator door opened. "Now I have a meeting with him, make sure no one interrupts us."
The girl opened her mouth to say something but Del pressed the button and the elevator's door closed. "That was rude."
