Chapter 11

Safe haven

Taehyung hissed, looking at the mirror, a sharp cut at the crook of his neck. He had been very careful but somehow, when the car hit the barrier it caused the front glass to break, and a few shards from it hit Taehyung right before he jumped out of the car.
Gladly, you hadn't noticed it, and he had been wearing turtleneck shirts to make sure he had the wound well hidden.

You had been busy with arranging for Hobi's funeral. Hobi was the only other person apart from Jina who was close to you. You couldn't believe he was gone. You cried and cried but eventually as a few days passed you got busy with the funeral arrangements.

It had been four days since the accident. Four days since Hobi's death. You were now standing on the elevated platform, giving a eulogy for your dear friend at his funeral, his body laid in a coffin, as everyone bid their goodbyes to him.
The room was not very crowded but it was full of people who knew Hobi, his friends, subordinates, maids, staff, business partners, and few others. He had no family, but these people loved him dearly. The room was filled with sorrow and sobs were heard every now and then. Jina stood next to Jungkook, sobbing as you spoke.

"Hobi has always been there for me. And if you knew him, you'd know that he was kind and generous. And I love how he always had a smile on his face." You laughed a little through your tears, remembering his precious smile. "He has been through a lot and has lost his family, but he never once let darkness consume him, he always kept going and kept carrying all his responsibilities without any complains." Your tears won't stop, it was getting hard for you to continue. You noticed that Taehyung was looking at you with a sad smile. He gestured and encouraged you to continue. You nodded and went on, "He was my sunshine and my best friend. I love him and I'm sure everyone here for him loved him too. It was impossible to not love him. And I just hope he is in a better place." You cried even more as you ended the speech.

Taehyung helped you get down the platform and handed you a handkerchief.
All throughout your speech he couldn't help but scoff, huff and chuckle at your words. Only he knew the reality and only he understood the irony in your speech. The image you had of Hoseok was completely different from what he actually was. When you suddenly looked his way in the middle of the speech, he had to cover it up with a sad smile.

However, what Taehyung didn't know was, Jina had been noticing his actions and she found it really, really weird. She also noticed how he covered up when you looked his way.

He didn't even know Hoseok that well, but the hatred he had for him was visible through his expressions as you spoke and Jina could not help but notice that. But she wasn't very sure of her assumptions so she let it slide for the time being.

"You did great, love." Tae whispered near your ear. And you were really grateful.
You were relieved to have Tae with you while you went through all of this. He had been untiringly available for you. Not once did he turn down any of your requests or favors you'd asked for. Apart from all of that, he had also been available for you emotionally, making sure you were okay and ate your meals on time and he tried to make you laugh every now and then, and whispered words of comfort in your ears, while you cried in his embrace, to ease your pain. You appreciated all of it. He was your safe haven, at the moment. You felt safe around him.
And he, he definitely was looking out for your safety, a little too much to be honest. Especially after he heard those words escape Hoseok's mouth that night. He was extra careful, he made sure to be as close to you as possible, with and without your knowledge. Since, the day of accident he had been staying with you, but even when he ran some errands for you, or when you went out to arrange for the funeral, he watched you or followed you.
