Chapter Forty-two

Demi lay in bed browsing through his phone for new toys and such while Theo was out on a job. He's been doing more and more jobs it seems. But that could be because they had killed Jones almost a week ago. The fucker deserved it though. It still gave Demi the chance to buy things he wasn't supposed to be buying. Demi made his phone go black when a knock sounded on their bedroom door.

"Yeah?" He called out as he sat up a little in the bed. That's when Demi realized he was hard. He covered himself with a pillow just as River waltzed into the room. He shouldn't have been looking at toys while thinking about using said toys on Theo. Demi knew what it did to him. He also didn't think he would have been interrupted in his search. Maybe he should call Theo later.

"Would you like to come downstairs and have dinner with me and the kids?"

"Sure. I'll be down in a minute. Have to use the bathroom first." River gave him a friendly smile and then left the room. Demi gets along with River but they're not very close. He likes playing and spending time with the twins though so that's a plus. If Demi can't have children of his own then he would spoil everyone else's kids.

Demi waited until his hard-on went down before he left the bedroom. Walking into the kitchen, he tickled Layla and Jay as he passed by them to take a seat at the table.

"Need any help?" He offered up to the smaller Omega. River shook his head at him as he cooked up some grilled cheese with homemade tomato soup.

"No not really. Just keep handing food to the garbage disposals over there and we should be fine." Demi chuckled a little bit at River and put some more food on the high chairs for the kids to grab.

After dinner, Demi made his way back to the bedroom. His phone was pressed to his ear as he waited for Theo to pick up. Demi knew he wasn't too busy if the other man had time to text him while on a job.

"Hey, baby." Theo answered on the third ring. Demi instantly felt himself smile at hearing his dragon's voice. There was a reason why he called Theo and it wasn't just to hear him talk.

"Hello, pup." Demi practically growled down the phone line. He put Theo on speaker so he was able to look at all the things he was about to purchase using Theo's card.

"What did you need?" There was a slight hitch to Theo's voice. You wouldn't be able to hear it unless you were listening for it and Demi was.

"Just wanted to call and tell you about all the things I'm going to buy for us. Or well, more like for you," Demi could hear Theo take in a ragged breath of air before he gruffly told Demi to continue.

"Well let's see. I found this really pretty babydoll lingerie set in black." There was a curse that slipped out of Theo before Demi even finished. "The panties are black silk cotton with lace and a bow. I thought it would look good on you, pup. Not to mention the black rope I got to go along with it."

"You're literally trying to kill me, Demi." Demi just laughed at the defeated sigh that left his mate.

"You can't tell me that you don't like the idea of me dressing you up in silk and lace and tying you up then having my way with you." Fuck, the idea was turning Demi on, probably more than it was Theo.

"I'm not saying I won't like it. But I'm kind of busy right now and popping a boner will not help the situation whatsoever."

"And how do you know that?" Demi asked as he rolled over onto his stomach and stretched out across the bed. He dragged Theo's pillow under his head and then buried his face in it.

"Because I do. Is this really why you called me?" He pulled his head from the pillow to look over at his phone, a yawn slipping out as a Demi started to get sleepy out of fucking nowhere.

"Yes and no. I wanted to call and tease you but I also wanted to call and say how much I miss you." Demi smiled softly at the phone when he heard a gentle rumble of a laugh come from Theo.

"I miss you too, Demi. What have you done today besides look up shit to kill me with." Demi lifted his legs in the air and crossed his feet at the ankle.

"Nothing much, really. I just got done having dinner with River and the kids. We had grilled cheese and tomato soup. What did you eat today?" Was this what being mated was like? Phone calls and mundane conversations. Checking up on one another was like second nature. Had to be. Demi was too in love for this to not be normal.

"I haven't eaten anything." Just as Demi was about to scold Theo, he saved himself. "Yet. Quinn is out right now picking up some food. I promise I'll eat and I'm drinking plenty of water."

"Good boy." Demi purred into the phone and fondly smiled when Theo let out a grunt at the praise.

"When do you think you'll be home?" He really missed Theo all of a sudden. Maybe it was because he had his nose stuffed into his pillow like a drug addict trying to snort his fix.

"I'm not sure. Right now we're scouting out the area to see where the best place to do the job at. Then it'll take a few hours to set up and actually kill the guy. I'm hoping to be home before ten. Why do you ask? You miss me that much?" There was a lit in Theo's tone as if he was in the mood to tease Demi now.

"I just said I missed you, you dork. But no, I want you home so we can have sex. I'm horny from looking up all of those things for you." There was a snort that came through on Theo's end and Demi rolled his eyes.

"I guess you'll just have to wait, babydoll. I refuse to have sex over the phone with you. I don't think Quinn would appreciate it if I came in his car."

"Who said I would let you come, pup." Demi bit his lower lip and listened as Theo groaned then whimpered.

"That's not fair," Theo whined.

"You know I don't play fair, sweetheart." Demi couldn't hold back the smile that lifted the corners of his mouth as he heard Theo groan again. There were sounds of shuffling than a low moan and another whimper.

"You better not be touching yourself, Theodore." His mate knew better than to touch what didn't belong to him.

"I'm not, but I want to," Theo growled as he held himself back from disobeying Demi.

"You're not allowed to and you know that. Now I'm going to get off of here and take a nap. I'm tired." Theo let out a huff but he didn't complain about the abrupt hang-up.

"Okay. I'll see you at home then. I love you, Demi." Demi lifted his phone and took it off of speaker so he could answer his dragon.

"I love you too, Theo." After that, he hung up and snuggled deeper into Theo's pillow. A sigh of contentment left his lips as he drifted off into sleep.

Demi was woken up hours later to his phone ringing. He jolted awake and looked out the window before picking his phone up. It was dark outside and when he checked the time it was almost two in the morning. Theo should have been home by now.

"Hello." He quickly answered the call that was coming from Quinn.

"Have you spoken to Theo in the last couple of hours?" Well, that was an odd question. Demi pulled his phone back and squinted at the light as he looked to see if he missed any calls or texts from his mate. There was nothing. Not since he called Theo after dinner.

"No, why?" He said as Demi brought the phone back to his ear.

"I can't find him, Demi. I've looked everywhere he could be. It's like he up and vanished."

Demi felt his heart stop before it started to rapidly beat. Theo was missing.
