Chapter 14

My eyes shoot open when I hear my phone ringing beside me. What time is it? Who the hell's calling me this time? Oh yeah. Toni and I agreed to talk in the morning after we Skype'd last night when we finished watching Austin's Ustream.

I take my phone from my bedside table, Toni's name lit up on the screen. I move nothing but my arm and hands so my head is still resting on my pillow, the rest of my body underneath the sheets. I answer the call and hear Toni say, "Hello?"

"Hi," I say, the obvious exhaustion still evident in my voice.

"LOL. You were asleep weren't you?"

"Obviously," I reply, closing my eyes.

"Anyways. I have so much to tell you."

"Like?"

Toni starts giggling and squealing uncontrollably from the other line.

"Good Lord, calm down."

"Ya, ya, sorry."

"What time is it anyways?"

"8:34 am, on the 14th of January."

"Damn. You didn't have to wake me up this early. I slept at 4 last night."

Toni sighs in frustration and I hear some papers being shuffled in the background. "Anyways, I have a story to tell you and you ain't gonna believe it. You cannot interrupt me. Alright?"

I roll out of bed, pushing my blanket off me. "Fine," I say, walking to the bathroom. I open the door and enter. I feel the cool floor tiles on my bare feet and open the faucet.

"So, you remember Raymond, yes?"

"Yes."

"Hey! I said no interruptions."

I hold my hand under the faucet. The cold water flows through my fingers so I cup my hand. Holding my phone to my ear using my left hand, I reply, "What the hell? Fine, go."

"Alright so, about a week after you left, I was walking home from the store. On my way, Raymond was like standing there and then I passed him. I was tryin' not do anything weird but then... I uh..."

"You uh?" I say lifting water to my face and to wash it. I push my hair out of my face, now slightly damp from the water.

"No interruptions. Ok, I kinda fell in front of him and then-"

"YOU WHAT?!?"

"Wait, wait. SHUT UP. Ok, anyways, I'll just make the story short. From then, we kept talking, we would see each other walking and actually acknowledge each other. So, I was gonna go to the mall with Jessica and some people -you know how she is- she already invited.  I came by at around 1 so I texted Jessica who was gonna pick up her friend, but Jessica said she was stuck in traffic, and her mom was driving her back from the county her gran lives in 'cuz she spent the night."

"Carry on." I wipe my face using a towel and proceed to brushing my teeth.

Toni groans and says, "I told you to shut up. Anyways, I was waiting near the theater and then I saw Raymond and I was like, 'Hey, what are you doing here?' so he said, 'I was gonna meet some people here with Ollie. I think he said he was gonna ride with, if I'm not mistaken'- GOD, HE'S SO CUTE- 'Jessica Burner? I don't know, she asked Ollie, Ollie asked me so here I am.' So I was like-"

With my tooth brush in my mouth, I said, "Wait. What happened to Logan? They go everywhere together." Jessica's boyfriend. They'd been going out for a month when I left to move.

"Broke-up. What else do you think?"

I mumble, "Awh... I liked Logan. They were so good together."
