"Mom," I said, as I walked to the front door, "I'm going to Kathy's!"
"Alright, honey. Don't be home too late," she replied as she walked into the kitchen, holding the groceries we had just bought.
I opened the front door and stepped out. I looked down at the text Kathy sent me.
Kathy- Wanna come over?? (:
Me- Sure!!! Heading there now~
I sent the text as the door closed behind. I walked down the pathway on my lawn to the sidewalk. As I turned to continue walking, I saw someone from the corner of my eye.
I caught a brown-haired, tall, boy somewhere up in a window. He seemed to just walk past the window not knowing that I was looking. Of course, I did know it was Austin. I mean, who else would it be? I met him the other day, and he did say he lived there. At that thought, I felt butterflies in my stomach. I always felt that way when I thought about when I met him. It wasn't some weird fangirl type of butterflies... It was definitely something else.
What are you thinking? My brain seemed to say, "Kathy's house, remember?"
Oh yeah. Keep walking Nicole, keep walking.
I got to Kathy's house and knocked on the door. Mrs. Lewis answered the door.
"Hello, Nicole." She greeted me with a smile.
"Hi Mrs. Lewis. Kathy told me to come over."
From behind Mrs. Lewis, I saw Kathy jump off the couch and make her way to the door.
"Mom, you can go," she said. Mrs. Lewis smiled and walked into the kitchen. "Hey. Come in." she said to me.
Kathy led me into the living room where I sat on the couch. She grabbed her laptop from the table and sat beside me.
She had her blonde hair down in a French braid and she was wearing pink shorts and a white sleeveless shirt.
"So, what are you doing?" I asked.
"Nothing. Music and twitter."
"Oh. What song?"
"Hold On to the Night, Greyson Chance."
"Of course." I said, rolling my eyes and laughing.
She laughed and shut off her laptop. We sat on her couch, talking. We talked about different things, it actually went from music, to school, to Russia, to unicorns. Ya, we're weird.
We kept laughing and after a moment of silence, Kathy said, "Remember when you met Austin?"
Yes. I remember it perfectly, that wonderful moment when the most amazing guy was talking to me... Wait. What am I thinking?
"Uh... Ya." I said, running my fingers through my hair slowly.
"Didn't he say he wanted to hangout with you sometime?"
"Actually," I said, "he said we could hangout if I wanted to."
"So, are you gonna?"
"Gonna what?" I asked.
"You know, hangout? It is your choice. So you're gonna?"
"Um... I don't know."
"Do you want to?"
"I don't know! Maybe."
"What do you mean 'maybe'?" she asked, smiling.
"I don't know. It would be awkward, I guess."
