"Hey, Kathy." I said, walking into her room. Her mom got the door and directed me to Kathy's room. When I came in, she looked up from her laptop. She was sitting on her bed.
"Hey," she said. she set her laptop on top of her bed and motioned me to sit beside her.
"So, what's up?" she asked, pausing a song, which I assumed was Greyson Chance.
"Nothing much. Had lunch with my mom before I came here. How about you?"
"Just listening to Greyson Chance."
Knew it. I said, "Oh. I had a feeling you were listening to him."
She laughed and said, "So, you know who I like, who do you like?"
"Um," I muttered. "No one in particular..."
"Shut up. I bet you like someone. Even if you're just a fan."
"Well, I like a lot of singers and bands. Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Parachute, Paradise Fears, Christina Perri, Jason Mraz, Simple Plan, Maroon 5, The Cab, He is We, bunch of other people."
"Ok, fine," she said, "Fanbase? Like what's your fanbase?"
"None in particular. Like I said, I like a lot."
"Fine, you're a big fan of?"
"Um.. Taylor, Adub, He is We are probably my top three."
"Hmm.. Not a fan of Cody Simpson?" She asked.
"I like his music."
She squinted a bit and nodded. She turned back to her laptop and typed something in. I looked around her room. The walls were purple and she had some Greyson Chance posters up. She had a desk with books piled on top of it. Sheets of paper with writings and some that were blank. Her bed was a bit of a mess and she had a lot of stuff that seemed misplaced. Her phone was on the floor, three different jackets on the floor, all her chargers where all tangled on the floor beside the desk. Typical bedroom of a teenager.
I don't know what made me say it, but I suddenly said, "Austin Mahone."
"Huh?" Kathy said, her eyes still stuck on the screen of her laptop.
"Um. Do you know Austin Mahone?" I asked quietly.
Kathy looked up and thought for a moment before she said, "Austin Mahone.. Hmm. He's a singer on Youtube, right? Actually, I think he lives around here. I've seen him a few times." She looked back at her laptop again and started typing again.
"Oh," I said, looking down at my hands.
"Why are you aski-" she started, before her eyes got wider. She looked at me and said, "Oh my gosh. You like him? You do, don't you?! Ahhhh!! You do!"
"Well, I guess I'm a fan. And, I kinda ran, actually, literally, bumped into him this morning."
"Oh my freaking gosh. What happened?" Kathy allowed her laptop to topple over sideways as she inched closer to me with an excited expression on her face.
I told Kathy about how I met Austin. She seemed really interested and she was smiling really wide throughout the whole story. I also told her about Toni and her "Mahomie-ness". When I was done, Kathy said, "It would be cool if you guys started going out."
"What?! No!" I shot back, "And, I don't want him to think I'm some crazed fan, which I'm not. We're basically neighbors and it would be so.. Weird."
"Whatever, dude. Just wait and see." She smiled slyly.
I groaned and lay on my back. Kathy clicked a few things and closed her laptop. She tossed it on her bed and stood up.
"Come on," she said, pulling my arm.
"Aghhh. No," I said, pulling back.

When I got home, it was around 7. I walked in and my mom was in the kitchen. She was making meatloaf for dinner.
"Hey, honey," she said, as I went into the kitchen.
"Hey, mom," I said, and got plates.
"How was your day?"
I placed the plates on the table and walked over to get spoons and forks. "It was fun. Kathy and I walked around the neighborhood and stuff."
"Well, that's good. You're making friends."
"Ya, I guess so," I said, setting the utensils on the table.
"Mom, just call me when you're done."
"Alright."
I climbed up the stairs. I came into my room and my phone started ringing.
I'm an angel with a shotgun, fighting 'til the wars done. I don't care if heaven won't take me back.
I just love my ringtone. I looked at the screen. Toni was calling so I answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hey, girl."
"Hi Toni."
"So, what's up? Anything interesting happen today? You know, besides meeting the Austin Carter Mahone," Toni said, emphasizing his name.
"No, not really. That was probably the most exciting part of my day. Lol." Ya, I say "lol" even when I'm not laughing. Well, doesn't everyone? Lol. See?
"Hmm.. Fine, what else did you do today, despite its not being as exciting as meeting the amazing, the wonderful, the incredible, the fantastic, the perfectly flawless-"
"Austin Mahone," we both said simultaneously. Hers in an ecstatically enthusiatic way, mine in a not so ecstatic way.
"Damn, girl. You know me so well," she said, laughing.
"I think I'd know you well enough to know you were talking about the, and I quote, 'amazing, wonderful, incredible, remarkable, perfectly flawless, Austin Mahone'," I replied, in a mocking tone.
"Ok first of all, I don't sound like that. And second, I said fantastic, not remarkable, but I guess we could add that in too."
"Lol. Ok whatever. What happened with you?" I asked as I ran my fingers through my hair.
"Oh actually, after you woke me up, I couldn't sleep anymore so I just-"
I didn't hear what she said because I was too busy thinking. What was I thinking of, exactly? Well, honestly, I was thinking about Austin. His name was ringing in my ears, despite Toni's voice going on about who knows what. I thought about what happened earlier that morning. I thought about the way he looked, and as Toni says, 'perfectly flawless'. The way he smiled. I couldn't help but smile when I saw him smiling. His amazing eyes that seemed bursting with color. His laugh that was just so... I don't even know how to describe it. Perfect. Just perfect.
"Nicole. Nicole. Nicole!" Toni shouted into the phone, disrupting my thoughts.
"Oh. What? Huh? Sorry."
"You stopped talking. I thought you died or something. Lol."
"Oh, no, I'm good. Still alive over here."
I heard my mom shout from downstairs, "Nicole! Dinner! Come down!"
I shouted back, "Alright, coming!"
"Toni, I have to go, mom's calling me for dinner," I said into my phone.
"Fine," she sighed, "talk to you soon, tell your mom I say hi."
"See ya." And with that, I dropped the call and went downstairs.
