Nervous? That's exactly how I feel, as I get ready to go to Austin's house for New Year's. My mom and I plan to go there at around 7 so I got ready at 6. I change to jeans and a white shirt with black tribal patterns. When my mom calls me, I grab my hoodie and my camera. I stretch my arms through the sleeves of the hoodie as I trudge down the stairs. My mom is standing by the door as I put on my black Vans. When I'm ready, we go to the house across us.
We cross the street. My mom presses the door bell and I'm guessing the person who comes to the door is Michele, Austin's mom. She's tall and has brown hair, like Austin.
"Hi Andie."
"Hi Michele."
"So I'm guessing this is Nicole," she says, turning to me.
"Ya. Hi. It's great to meet you," I reply, trying to be as polite as possible.
"You too. Oh, come in." My mom and I step inside. Michele introduces us to the rest of the family, Austin's grandparents and his aunt. My mom talks with them but I don't really say anything. I guess Michele notices I'm not really doing anything, so she calls Austin.
Michele shouts, "Austin! Come down here!"
A voice from comes from upstairs, "MOM, I'M BUSY."
"Austin, Nicole and her mom are here!"
I can hear Austin's footsteps as he climbs down the stairs. Austin passes by me with a smile. He greets my mom and they talk for awhile. After a few minutes, they run out of things to say. We all kind of stand there awkwardly. I guess Austin notices, so he pulls me by the arm as he says, "Mom, Nicole and I will be upstairs since... Well, we have nothing to do down here."
Michele nods and says, "Ok." She turns to my mom and says something but I can't hear them. Austin keeps pulling me as we climb the stairs.
"Where are we going?"
"Upstairs."
"Stupid."
"Well you're the one with the stupid questions."
Austin is still gripping my arm and pulling me so I push forward, making him fall. He squeals and it sounds something like, AAAGHHH, but really high pitched. For a 15-year-old boy, he's kinda weak. There's a bump when he falls and I burst out laughing when I hear him. While he's was still down, Michele's voice comes from downstairs, "You two, ok up there?"
Austin shouts back in an irritated tone, "We're incredible! I am experiencing no problems whatsoever that would include Nicole pushing me and me falling!"
"It's good," I shout down. I'm grinning down at Austin who is still on the floor, staring at me blankly. I hold my hand out for him to take. Austin reaches forward and grabs my hand, expecting me to pull him up. As he slowly gets up, I let go off his hand, causing him to come crashing back down on the ground. Wow. I can't believe he fell for that.
I bend over, laughing hysterically. Austin looks at me as if to say, what was that for? I cross my arms and smile slyly. "Never trust me to pull you up. Especially if I'm the one who made you fall."
Austin mutters something and pushes himself up. I ask him what he said and he just shakes his head.
I follow him until we reach a door. It has a crucifix attached to it, a whiteboard and some other pieces of paper that read: Austin's Room. The whiteboard has something written on it. I glance to read it. It says: Recording (so don't bug me)
I laugh to myself as Austin opens the door. He waves his hand through the door and I step in.
All I can say is... Wow. If his room looks cool on computer or outside my window, it's just amazing if you're really standing inside. Wherever you look, you see colors and different types of penmanship and all these things. You see Austin's name everywhere you look.
