It was 2:14 pm. I don't know what made me do it, the sheer boredom of being alone in my house while Kathy went to visit some relative of hers, my oh, so stupid fearlessness or just the urge to see him. I picked my phone off the table and texted Austin.
Me- Hey Austin.
Austin- What's up? (:
His smiley face is backwards, like mine.
Me- Remember how you offered for us to hang out again next time??
Austin- Yup how come?
Me- Well... I accept! Wanna come over? (:
Austin- Sure!! Be there in 5 minutes
I smiled and placed my phone down beside me. Cool, so Austin's coming over.
Wait a second. Austin's coming over. OH MY GOD. What did I just do?
I ran up to my room in a panic, now realizing what I had just done. I got to my room and paced back and forth. Ok, make sure I look decent. I grabbed the brush off the table and combed through my hair quickly. I glanced in the mirror. Ugh, too neat. I flipped my hair forward and shot my head back up. I looked back in the mirror. There, better.
What? I don't want Austin thinking I actually cared if he came over. Even if I did.
I walked down the stairs. Maybe I shouldn't have asked him to come over... Should I just tell him not to come anymore? No, that would be awkward... Well, it's better than having him stay here. I was in the living room and my hand lingered over my phone. I was just about to pick it up to text him, when it lit up. I unlocked my phone and read the message.
Austin- Im outside (:
I sighed as I placed my phone on the table. I walked to the door, looking over my clothes. My shorts were red while my shirt was white with a birdcage as the design. I took a breath and my fingers went through my hair. I opened the door slowly and walked towards Austin.
He was sitting on the pavement. His head hung over his phone as he was scrolling. I don't know what made me do it, but I bent down behind him and placed my hands over his eyes. His head came up and turned in my direction. With my hands still blocking his view, I laughed and let go. He smiled at me and said, "Hey."
"Hello. Wanna come in?" I asked.
"Sure," he said with a smile. He stood up and we walked to the door. He let me walk in first, and followed after me. The door closed behind us as we went into the living room. I motioned for him to sit down. He took a seat on the couch as I went into the kitchen.
"You hungry?" I yelled.
"Nah, I'm alright."
I drank some water and left my glass on the counter. Back in the living room, Austin was sitting on the couch looking through his phone. I stood beside the couch, a bit too shy to sit beside him.
"What's so interesting on there?"
"Oh," he said, "Sorry, I was just texting Alex."
Alex is Austin's best friend. They started ShootUsDown together and from there, Austin posted covers and got famous on Youtube. Blame Toni for everything I know about him.
I nodded and asked, "So, how often do you get to see him?"
"Every few weeks, at most," he said, as he shrugged.
"At least," I muttered.
"Huh?"
"Nothing..."
"So," he started, looking at me expectantly, "What do you wanna talk about?"
"Anything, I guess. Whatever you want."
