7 years later
The soft satin material of my floor-length gown trails behind me just no more as I walk across the grey and white patterned carpet floor. I can sense all eyes on me as I walk and when I step onto the white and black dance floor, the sound of my white satin Jimmy Choo heels is all I'm focusing on.
I'm focusing more on my walking as I walk towards my husband who's waiting in the middle of the dance floor, head-to-toe in a simple black suite with white shirt that's opened at the collar. I don't want to fall or trip and as my dress flows easily, I could easily picture myself tripping up and falling flat on my ass.
"You look beautiful, baby," Joe whispers to me when I approach. His smile is infectious and I can't help but return his given smile.
"More than or just as beautiful as I was ten years ago when we stood here?"
His hands clasp together at the base of my back, pulling me close to him. My hands fall flat on his chest. "If it's possible, I would swear that you get more and more beautiful with each passing day."
I place a light kiss on his lips before laughing lightly. "Very smooth, Mr. Hart."
"As always, Mrs. Hart."
Music fills through the speakers and we begin to move together as one.
"It doesn't seem like we've been married for ten years," I voice.
"So much has happened since we began dating. Maybe that's why it seems to have flew in," Joe agrees.
"Zachary's going to be eleven this year."
"Nathan's going to be seven next year."
"And Skye's going to be one next month."
"Oh, I can't forget my angel now." His smile grows bigger as he looks off towards one of the tables.
I turn my head and look towards the table that's caught his attention, and smile.
When people said to me that Zachary was Joe's spitting image, I never believed them until he got a little older than a few months old. His dirty blonde hair and green eyes match his dad's perfectly. He's even gotten into football and jokes that when he gets signed to a professional football team when he's a teenager, and if his dad's still playing, he'll score his teams winning goal by putting it past him. Joe knows it's a joke but I can tell he's sort of worried because he knows his oldest son is better at being a striker than he is at following in his footsteps and becoming a goalkeeper.
Then there's Nathan. His dark brown hair and green eyes make him the perfect mix of both of us. He likes his sports but can't really be bothered with getting too involved with them because he doesn't want to be a footballer. He's expressed his wish to become a successful lawyer and that's fine with us. If that's what he wants to be, we'll support him no matter what.
And Skye. Our beautiful blonde hair, blue eyed, baby girl. She was something neither of us had planned. When we found out that we were going to have another child, we were in shock. We weren't planning on having another child as it was agreed that we were happy with our two boys. But when she was born, everything changed. We didn't know it until then, but she was the thing that was missing from our little family. She was our missing piece and now she's here, we wouldn't change anything for the world.
"They're all perfect," he gushes on a small sigh.
"That's because their father is a good looking man," I smirk.
His attention turns to me and he raises a single brow. "I think it's because their mother is beautiful and the hottest woman I have ever met."
"That's pushing it a bit, Joe." I laugh.
"Not at all," he counters.
"Jess would be laughing her head off right now if she could hear you."
"I think she'd be laughing more at your comment about me rather than the other way around."
I look to the other side of the room at my best friend.
For all her attention is on Joe and I, her smile can be for not only that but for the simple fact being that her fiancé is whispering something to her. She's happy which all I can ask for her to be. She didn't date anyone for well over a year after everything that happened and when she did begin to date again, it took someone really special for her change her mind on all guys. Luca was that guy and he makes her happy. If she's happy, I'm happy.
"She's too loved up to care," I defend.
"At least she's found a decent guy who is who he says he is and loves her," Joe agrees.
I smile. "I just wish we didn't need to go back home tomorrow. I love it here in New York."
"Well," Joe starts, "maybe we don't have to go home early."
I pull back to look at him and he winks at me. "What are you talking about?"
"What if I told you that we were going to heaven like we did when we got married ten years ago?"
"I'd say that there is no way in hell that you'd have arranged our honeymoon again."
"Oh, but I have." He pulls me in tighter to his body and I laugh lightly. "And to Thailand none the less."
We stop dancing and my hands slide up and over his chest before running down his arms, resting on his forearms.
"Kids?" I ask.
"Staying with my parents," he answers.
"How long for?"
"Fifteen days."
"When do we leave?"
"Tomorrow morning."
I squeal and hug him tightly, all the while muttering how much I love him and that that will never change. No matter what happens, like the past has proven, I'll always love this man and I know that he'll always love me no matter what happens.
The End.
