The crisis continued to escalate and Jacen Solo was forced more and more to rely on Coruscant'sWorld Brain to help him track down terrorists. This is a Yuuzhan Vong dhuryam left over from the invaders' occupation of the planet during the Yuuzhan Vong War, grown to coordinate terraforming. However, fearing assassination by Bothans of the True Victory Party intent on continuing the ar'kraigenocide against the Yuuzhan Vong, the Brain fled from the World Well and Jacen pursued it into Coruscant's depths. He didn't realize that he was also being followed, by the former KillikNight HeraldAlema Rar. She desired to kill Jacen in revenge for the Solo family's perceived abandonment of her at the Battle of Tenupe during the Swarm War.
Jacen eventually found the World Brain and attempted to bring it back into the fold. However, Alema attempted to kill Jacen with a poisoned dart but Lumiya alerted Jacen and the dart struck and killed the World Brain instead. Jacen, angered by the World Brain's death and convinced that Bothans were responsible, ordered the death of many Bothans on Coruscant, which drove Bothawui to join Corellia.
Meanwhile. . .
Alema continued to shadow Jacen and Lumiya. Alema eventually revealed herself to Lumiya when Eternal Master Tresina Lobi is about to reveal her to the Eternals. Together, Alema and Lumiya killed Lobi and Alema pledged herself to Lumiya's service.
When news of Lobi's death reached the Eternal Order across the galaxy for they felt and sensed her death, Luke believed that it was the work of Lumiya. Together with his Mara clone, he followed the trail from Lobi's body to Lumiya at the Roqoo Depot. There they battled Lumiya and Alema separately. Mara defeated Alema and discovered that she was carrying a bomb vest. Disarming it, she went after Luke, who she found shooting Lumiya. The Mara clone told Luke about the bombs and left the building before it exploded, leaving Lumiya and Alema supposedly. . . . dead.
