Chapter 15: Homeland Security

Y/N pov:

"ZOMBOT! ITS A ZOMBOT!"

I jolt up as I hear the screams, and run out of my room and to the catwalk to see what was happening. My eyes widen as I see a zombot in the entrance portion of the building, pouncing on the people around it, infecting them. I see Vector and Espio running through the crowd, Vector is carrying... Charmy? Why would they bring him back infected!? "Everyone stay calm! Don't- woah!" Vector almost drops him, Gemerl flying overhead with Cream, trying to find Vanilla I assume. I start panicking and run back to my room, hitting the alarm on the way there.

Once I get to my room, I pick up my hover wispon, but it turns out that green went with Whisper, of course. Alright, fine, I'll go to the armory and get another one. So I run to the armory at full speed, I bump into multiple people, knocking some down. I hear Amy over the P.A, "All pilots to your shuttles, prep for immediate takeoff! Restoration HQ has been compromised! I'm initiating a full evac!" Well, at least now everyone who wasn't there knows.

When I get to the armory I see a lot of wisps, but only a single cube wispon. Fine I'll take it, I convince one of the wisps to power it, even though they're pretty scared. I then charge back to the catwalk where I was. Amy is making her way through the zombots to Cream, who's trying to get to her mother. I see Vanilla is holding back zombots so that Cream can escape. I jump into the crowd and hit the ground with the hammer, clearing the path for Amy to get to Cream. I can't let anyone else get infected, I can't let it happen. "Ms. Rose! Please! Get my little girl to safety!" Amy grabs Cream and takes her to the shuttle, I hear Cream yelling for her to go back.

I use the wispons power to close the zombots in cubes, forming a wall around us, I fight off the zombots grabbing Vanilla. "Y/N? Is that your name?" She says, obviously afraid, but trying to remain calm. "Yea, t-thats me."
She smiles softly. "I don't know you very well, but I think you may have a good heart. Please make sure Cream is ok..." I look at her for a moment, scared to say anything back. "O-ok, I'll do my best." She smiles. "Thank you, you can go with them now..." I start backing away slowly. "I'm sorry..." I turn and run towards the doors, Gemerl scans me as I come in, and I use another cube wall to hold them back.

Gemerl scans the inside of the room. "Scan complete, everyone within is infected to some degree." Vector sighs loudly. "Alright, let's seal it up before-" Suddenly an infected Charmy flies through the door, and tries to get to the shuttle. Vector tackles him to the ground. "Oh no you don't!" Everyone looks on in horror, I feel my heart sink. "I swear kid your such a pain in my tail!" Espio runs toward Vector in a panic. "Vector-!"

"Vector is compromised, immediate quarantine required." Vector smiles a bit, and charges back through the shuttle bay doors, and starts punching the zombots back. "Yeah-Yeah-Yeah, I guess this is what I get for looking after my own. I'll beat em back! Close up the door behind me!" He turns to look at Espio. "Hey Espio, your lead detective now." With that the door clamps shut, and everyone looks on in horror at what they witnessed.

"Vector is... very strong. As a zombot, he will break down the door soon." Amy quickly wipes away her tears. "Y-your right, we need to go." I walk to Espio, and put a hand on his shoulder, "C'mon, w-we have to get going..." He looks up at me, "Roger that..." We all get into the shuttle, and leave the overrun base behind.
