After Dark (SasuNaru story)

Unknown: Did I upset you?

The Hokage read the message with eagerness. Hoping it would say more, knowing he's the one who left this guy on read this time. It has been nearly six hours since his last message came through. Dare he respond now to open another can of worms or just go by his day and continue ignoring this guy. But he didn't want to do that. He wanted, no he needed to know who this guy was.

Naruto: Who are you?

Unknown: Someone who really likes you.

Naruto: So now you like me?

Unknown: Always have just took a long time to figure out.

Naruto: Why don't you come to the office and talk about it with me.

Unknown: Nice try!

Naruto: It was worth the shot.

Unknown: You'd probably just punch me anyway and tell me to fuck off.

Naruto: That's not true!

Unknown: How would you know?

Naruto: I guess i don't actually. I've never been liked by a guy before either though.

Unknown: Yeah you have, I just told you I have for a while.

Naruto: I don't even know who you are so that doesn't count!

Unknown: Would you really want to know now after finding out that i like you?

He thought about the question that was asked. He actually didn't know if he would. He couldn't think really at all.

Before he knew it Shikamaru walked in with Sasuke following behind. "Naruto have you even done any work at all?" He asked the Hokage who's eyes widened in realization of how little the amount of work he actually got done. "I'll get it done by the end of the night! Believe it!" He yelled out like he wasn't just majorly distracted.

It was only 3:00PM but he knew there wasn't any going home tonight, which the kids and Hinata already knew was going to happen after being gone from the office for two whole days. That's like a week in paper terms.

Shikamaru sighed. "Dont over do it okay?" Naruto nodded, his eyes shifted over to the Uchiha. "Sasuke did you have something to report?" His eyes caught his, Sasuke nodded and took a few steps closer to Naruto's desk. "Just a check in report. Haven't found much of anything since the attack from Momoshiki. But their are some villagers on the outskirts who have said they've had sightings of someone hovering over houses in the middle of the night. But after Momoshiki this could just be gossip. Either way i will be investigating just outside the gates where the sightings were." He said with ease. He could see Naruto was not fully focusing.

"Okay, sounds like you knew exactly what to do already. Wanna trade places for a little while?" Naruto asked him jokingly. A soft smile forming on his face. It made the Uchiha smirk in response but he dared to say anything in return. "Hmph.." he turned around with his cloak following him.

"I'll return in a few days, top" he finally said something before leaving the office. Shikamaru followed him out while shutting the door.

Naruto sat there thinking about Sasuke not saying anything about swapping places. Oh what he would do to get away from the village for a while. Quickly his mind feeding back to the last message he received. Would he really want to know now?
