Late night calls

I was only going to be in the UK for a couple of days because I would be flying back to Spain for testing with the team.

I was going to be so busy as I had to organise and plan all of the social media duties for Lewis and George. Last season was so up and down that I felt I'd never given the job my all, this time I was going to make sure it was going to be different.

No distractions.

Speaking of distractions Max had still tried to text me a few times but I just ended up ignoring him, I had no desire to speak to him at all. I also knew that if I did speak to him I wouldn't be able to resist the feelings I still had for him.

Being at the factory was a perfect chance to get to know George better as well especially seeing as I was going to be spending the whole season following him and Lewis around.

The whole team was fired up for the new season, especially with how the last one ended. The whole aim this season was to get a 9th constructors and for Lewis to get his 8th title. The biggest worry was the change in cars no one quite knew what this season would bring, it was nerve wrecking but exciting at the same time.

I had just finished back to back meetings with the social media and PR team, I still had a load of work to do before we all flew out tomorrow so I'd stuck around at the factory to concentrate.

"Jacks missed having you around, we all have" my dad said as he came to sit next to me.

"It's not like I've disappeared" I laughed back.

He placed his hand on mine. "It's going to be a long season Kace, I just want you to know you can come home at any time okay" his voice was soft and his expression wasn't stern like it usually was.

He was being genuine, he really seemed to care.

"Thanks dad" I replied smiling slightly, trying to ignore the lump in my throat.

As much as I liked having my own place and being out of my dad's watchful eye, the silence of being alone was deafening sometimes.

"I'll leave you to get on with work, see you tomorrow" he said as he stood up and left me.

I didn't want to just go straight back to the hotel and sit by myself all evening so I decided to sit in the hotel bar and drink. I couldn't remember how much I'd had to drink but eventually I stumbled back to my hotel room and slumped down onto my bed.

The room was spinning. I don't know why but I picked up my phone and dialled Max's number, it didn't even ring his voice came over the phone instantly shocking me.

"Hello" there was a pause and I couldn't bring myself to reply to him. "Kace are you okay?" I could hear the concern in his voice but I didn't know what to say I just ended the call.

I knew I'd regret it as soon as I woke up in the morning but hearing his voice brought me comfort. I pretty much fell asleep straight away.
