The start of everything

Seeing as the first race was in Bahrain all of the teams stayed, I'd pretty much spent the whole time with George and Lewis shooting material for the social media platforms and when I wasn't with them I was with Charles and Pierre. I was mostly doing a good job of keeping myself busy but once I'd get back to my hotel room I'd feel so lonely that I'd start drinking to help myself fall asleep. I could feel myself slipping into the very person I tried so hard not to be but it was the only way I could get through each day and I really thought I could pull myself out if I really needed to. Everyone around me was oblivious, I'd get up each day and get on with it like I was perfectly fine. By the time we got to race day I knew that I'd taken it to far and wasn't in a place where I could pull myself out of it anymore. As I got ready to go to the track I finished off the bottle of sitting by my bed with so much of a second thought.

I was stood outside the Ferrari garage with Charles before he had to go and get ready for the race. He was being incredibly flirty and touchy even though the paddock was full of people. He really didn't seem to care and quite frankly neither did I as I was still quite drunk, not that Charles or anyone else had even noticed. As Charles went to whisper something to me he sighed as something caught his eye. I turned to look what it was only to realise Max was approaching us. "I'll see you after the race beautiful" Charles said before quickly kissing my cheek and walking away.
Max glared at Charles as he walked away, he didn't look impressed at all. "What's going on with you and Charles" he asked practically straight away, I felt so uneasy this just wasn't a conversation I wanted to have right now. "Not that it's any of your business but there isn't anything we're just friends" i sarcastically replied, chuckling slightly out of nervousness. I felt like I was lying to him but in reality I was right there wasn't anything going on we'd only kissed once and we really were just friends. Max raised his eyebrows and looked around the paddock before turning back to look straight in my eyes. "Have you been drinking today?" He almost whispered the words. "Again it's none of your business" I laughed back at him which seemed to agitate him "Kaycee I know you, and I know when you've been drinking" he muttered through gritted teeth. "Max I don't want anything to do with you so just leave me alone" I replied taking a step back and stumbling Max reached out and grabbed my arm to stabilise me "let go I don't need your help" I snapped at him trying to pull my arm back. I'd thought that Charles had completely walked off but he was actually still close by watching us, as I struggled to move away from Max he instantly came over placing himself between me and Max. "Let her go" Charles snarled at Max making him let go. Max took a step back and walked off without looking back.

I watched the race in the garage next to my dad, with the car performing so badly this season everyone was on edge hoping and praying for a positive outcome. He was so engrossed in the race I knew there wasn't a chance of him even noticing that I'd been drinking. It wasn't look good for the team until Max started to have an issue causing him to retire and then Perez spun at turn 1 with a power issue giving Lewis the P3 and George finishing P4. Even though it wasn't the win everyone was hoping for the whole garage was ecstatic with the result.
I knew Max would be furious that he'd had to retire from the race especially with all the talk still around about the title being robbed from Lewis last season. Usually my first instinct would have been to go check on him and every part of me wanted to but I had to keep my distance, I needed to let go of him for good.
I had gone to watch the podium because of Lewis but as I looked up Charles' gaze caught mine and he winked at me sending a shiver through my body.
