"Thor, what is this 'christmas' I hear everyone talking about?" Loki asked Thor who was half asleep on the couch next to him.

"It's a Midgardian tradition.. it's very much like Yule.. but different" Thor mumbled, he crossed his arms and closed his eyes again. In a split second he was dozed off..

"But- idiot.." Loki muttered when he caught sight of Thor. Loki stood from his spot and wondered his way back to his room. Loki recently moved in with the Avengers after he got his pardon, of course everyone is still very cautious over the god.. well except y/n.. she was a little wary around Loki but she was always there.. Loki actually confided in y/n at times..

The trickster god was slowly catching feelings for the mortal.. much to his dismay of course. The god would never admit it.. but the girl always used to make his chest feel light..

"Hi Loki! What's up? You look confused.." she asked, her voice soft like always when talking to him. He smiled gently and nodded slightly

"Dear.. what is this Christmas holiday? Thor said it was something like Yule but he fell asleep before he could finish explaining.." he grumbled the last part, y/n laughed and shook her head gently

"Well.. it depends on how you look at it. Some people celebrate the birth of Christ, others just celebrate family and friends, some even use it as an excuse to spend money and or receive gifts.." she explained, she began walking to her room, Loki trailing behind her to continue learning about earth's holidays

"who's Christ? Is that why its called Christmas?" He asked confused, y/n sighed and opened her door walking in and laying on her bed, Loki hesitantly sat on the edge of her bed

"He's someone who many religions believe in.. like how the Asatru believe and worship Norse gods, like you and Thor and all other Norse gods. Christians, Catholics and many more believe in Jesus Christ.. why am I explaining religion to a god?" she asked, Loki gave her a small smile and nodded

"I understand what you're saying.. but I still don't get the concept of the holiday.." he mumbled sheepishly

"Loki.. Christmas is a time of giving. It's when you gather with friends and family to spend time with each other, some give gifts to their loved ones and others just give company.. but remember.. it's all about giving, not receiving.. " she explained sitting up and looking at him properly, it didn't register to them exactly how close to each other they were at the moment. When it did, neither of them made effort to move away

"I understand now.. when exactly is Christmas?" he asked

"I think two days from now.. Tomorrows Christmas eve." she answered, he nodded and fell quiet again. He had promised everyone to stay out of their minds.. it was one rule he actually tried not to break.. but rules are meant to be broken.

Loki entered y/n's thoughts for a moment, trying not to listen or interfere with her thoughts, he was on the search to find one thing. when he did find it he quickly got back out, standing and dismissing himself.

~Christmas Eve 11:47pm~

"I'm telling you, Natasha got you a back-brace!" Tony made fun of Steve as they all sat with a singular gift in their laps. It was sort of tradition to open a single present at the first moment on Christmas, the rest would be opened in the morning. Steve rolled his eyes and fiddled with the wrapping paper of the gift. They all conversed for a while but immediately quieted down when Jarvis began counting down.

"Merry Christmas!" Everyone shouted in unison, giving pats on the backs and hugs to each other, no one seemed to have noticed Loki's absence except for y/n. They opened their gifts and thanked the person who got them the gift, but y/n just couldn't bring herself to enjoy the little moment. Her mind was on Loki and what the trickster could be doing..

she placed her gift down and quietly slipped away from the team. She walked down the halls but stopped when a floating paper appeared in front of her.

I know this seems weird, but bear with me.

For long I have questioned my emotions,

especially when it came to you.

you make me feel comfortable in my own skin, and I couldn't be more glad I met you.

But unfortunately, I wish to no longer be friends.

-Loki

Y/n felt her heart drop to her feet, why would he just spring this up out of the blue?? Did she do something that made him not like her? she was quite worried that she did something..

see, Loki isn't the only one with feelings.. y/n had them too. But now it appears that her feelings were never the same as his..

She was about to walk back to the Livingroom but the paper started moving, leading her to the library where there was another paper.

Now, now, my dear..

Why do you look so blue?

You didn't really think you could get rid of me that easy.. did you?

My darling, I wish not to be your friend anymore,

because I wish to be more. Since when I first moved into the tower you made me feel welcomed, and since then I realized you and I were never going to stay friends. I can only hope you share the same feelings as me. I'm on the balcony, come find me.

-Loki

After reading the note she made a beeline to the large balcony of the library, finding Loki standing there with a nervous smile, before he could open his mouth to say something, y/n crashed into his arms, their lips connecting in a soft, passion filled kiss. Loki's arms wrapped around her waist tightly as he kissed her, her arms around his neck and gently playing with his hair.

When the two pulled apart for air, Loki grabbed her waist and pulled her to him, planting a soft kiss on the side of her head.

"Merry Christmas my dove."

"Merry Christmas Loki."
