"I Do."

The day, they had so carefully picked out, finally came. Well as carefully as one can pick out a day to get married, without any plan whatsoever. Spontaneity was what Maya had called her new way of thinking. She wanted to be spontaneous about this 'wedding'. They decided that Vegas was probably a bad idea after all since they both weren't particularly keen on Las Vegas but they did find a small church on the outskirts of Seattle and without much thought, they decided that it was perfect. God, it was perfect. But everything seemed pretty perfect to them right now, still stuck in their lavender haze of actually going through with it. All the pain they had been through had built up and built up. No one should be faced with things this damaging but after all, they made it through still standing and still waking up next to each other. A thought that seemed impossible just a week ago.

Maya hadn't slept the whole night, and usually, she would worry about big dark eye bags for such an important day but somehow today she couldn't care less. She also didn't care about the red dot showing up on the left side of her forehead nor did she care that they would probably miss their slot at the church if Carina didn't wake up soon. But Maya couldn't bring herself to rip Carina out of her peaceful slumber. But anyway Carina's long sleep gave Maya the chance to frantically look for the rings again and again even though she knew exactly where they were. Maybe she wasn't quite ready to let go fully but that was okay too. She had bought a wedding dress a day prior. Not a dress she thought possible for her to wear since it was tight-fitted, and until a month ago she imagined her body looking horrendous in a dress like that. But Andy and Vic had insisted that it looked 'perfect'. And yes it was indeed perfect. Both Vic and Andy had been blown away by their decision. But not only because Maya broke her usual way of being but also because the wounds Carina and Maya were carrying, were still so fresh and delicate which usually didn't make the best setting for engaging in marriage.

"Maya!" the blond heard a scream from the bedroom. In a koi way, she replied "yes, darling?", knowing exactly why Carina screamed. She slowly walked back into the bedroom, where a still very sleepy Carina sat up in bed. "it's 9 o clock our time slot is at 11 how the hell do you propose we make that?!" she was half smiling which made her angry statement less serious. "spontaneity?" Maya replied with a huge grin across her face. Carina just groaned and stood up from bed. In about half an hour Vic would be here to pick up Carina and Andy to pick up Maya. Since Carina insisted that they keep their wedding outfits hidden until the very last moment. Even though all the other wedding traditions were thrown out the window. Which meant Carina only had half an hour to get ready. But still, she didn't seem stressed or not in a serious manner. "I hate you." she heard Carina scream from the bathroom. "No, you love me very much that's why we are even here today," she spoke with a smile though hidden beneath those words were huge amounts of gratitude and love. To that, though, she didn't get a response.

Rapidly they both got ready. Well with a lot of kisses here and there and some terrible dancing to their favorite music. But they had made it, both were ready to go. Maya was carefully stored away in the bedroom so she wouldn't be able to catch a glance of her dressed-up fiance and soon after the doorbell rang and a familiar voice entered the house. "hello, Bishop-Delucas. Oh, or is it Deluca-Bishops? Anyway, I welcome you to thy wedding day." Vic seemed to be very chilled and very Vic. "Hellooo," Maya greeted Vic from the bedroom. She got a quick response which was shortened by Vic exclaiming: "Holy mother of Jesus Deluca, you look hot." excitement bubbled at the pit of Maya's stomach at that sentence. And suddenly it all became very real. They were getting married. Maya the child who was made to be unlovable actually was getting married. She couldn't believe it nor could she quite grasp the luck she had. She was marrying this magnificent woman with long brown hair, beautiful eyes, and a temper that made Maya's knees weak. She found her person. She found the person with whom she would spend the rest of her mornings and nights and days and years. And Maya was finally happy. "Maya," Andy screamed. "ya wife is a smoke show." Where she was right, she was right. Carina was hot as fuck. "I agree," Maya screamed back and she could almost feel the grin forming on Carina's face.

Until now the day transformed into simple perfection. After a few little tweaks to their outfits and a lot of typical Andy and Vic comments, which made Maya want to eat up Carina even more, they were on their way. Of course in separate cars as planned. Maya was giggling the whole drive to the church. Which took about 45 minutes and Maya fricking Bishop was giggling. At church, the entire Station was waiting and yelping as they saw the cars arrive. Bubbling with excitement. Everyone was there, all the people Maya loved were there. It felt like a dream.

Maya arrived first and greeted everyone and the closer the actual slot came the more her nerves started to build up. The church was small and having the entire squad there didn't help with the volume surrounding Maya. Then again everyone was happy again. Finally. Maya felt for the rings in her pocket as a way to calm herself. Not much longer and she would be somebodies wife. This whole experience and year behind her was the best and worst thing ever and this was more than a perfect finishing touch.

"Psst." Vic pocked her elbow into the blonde's side. "it's time. She's coming." suddenly the room fell silent. All gawking at Carina coming around the corner. And as they were busy simply staring, tears welled in Maya's eyes. Tears of pure and utter happiness. Carina was wearing a white pant-suit and as awful as Maya would have imagined that a few years ago it was simply flawless. It hugged Carina's body in all the right places, her hair fell perfectly onto it and her smile lit up the room. Maya was met with a smile and a short kiss when Carina arrived. And yes obviously one should only kiss after the ceremony but who cares?
Carina seemed to have caught up with the teary eyes and both of them were close to a breakdown.
"so," spoke the man standing behind Maya and Carina. "We are gathered here today to celebrate this wonderful couple and guide them on a way to what I'm sure will be a wonderful marriage." before he could continue someone came in and made a weird hand movement but everyone was too focused to care. "Yeah sorry, we gotta hurry a little the next couple is already here."
And of course, that was going to happen in a small church at their wedding. To be fair they did arrive slightly late.
"So, Carina DeLuca," he turned towards Carina. "do you take Maya Bishop as your lawfully wedded wife?"
Carina glanced between the man and Maya to build the tension but replied with: "of course I do!" and kept on smiling.
The man turned to Maya and proceeded
"And do you Maya Bishop take Carina DeLuca as your-"
"I do, I so do." Maya interrupted.
"Well then, I hereby pronounce you wife and wife," he spoke now also with a smile.
Everyone started screaming and cheering, this was what they had all been waiting for. This was it. It got even louder when Carina pulled Maya close into a passionate kiss. They were wives.

While their family kept cheering, and their laughter was still filling the tiny church they ran out hand in hand, with a ring on both their fingers, screaming, crying, laughing with happiness. Maya and Carina were married. Maya and Carina survived the storm and Maya and Carina probably would still have a shit ton to face but at least they were facing it together until their very last breaths.
