Say yes to me

"The uniform looks stupid, I can't believe I have to wear this every day," Alice groaned as she looked at herself in the living room mirror. "Only girls in a Catholic school have to wear a tie."

"It's not that terrible, it's just a bit..." Nancy tried to find the right words. "Old-fashioned."

"It highlights every bad part of my body and leaves every good part out," Alice turned around and looked at her. "Is this school so afraid of making boys' not contain themselves during class? I thought no bare shoulders was strict, but this?"

"I could try and fix it for you?"

"No, no need, I signed up for this, so I have to endure it." Alice concluded. "Thank God, I'm not living on campus though, that would be torture."

At that same moment, the doorbell went off and Alice walked over to it. She peeked through the designated hole and saw someone. After she opened the door, Tyler noticed her uniform and got the message. "Bad time?"

"This is why you should give at least some sort of date." Alice told him with a chuckle.

Tyler chuckled with her and understood. "All right, I'll give you a couple of minutes."

Alice closed the door and sprinted to her bedroom, trying to find some sort of clothing for tonight. Nancy could hear her drawers being abused by her throwing everything out and decided to step in.

"All right, all right, calm down," She took her hands and stopped her from doing anything. "Those cabinets did nothing wrong to you."

"He came out of nowhere! I'm not prepared and have no clue what to wear." Alice pleaded with her.

"Okay, calm the hell down, let me help you."

Knowing that poor Tyler was standing behind the door and probably heard their conversation didn't help, but it was way out of Alice's thought priority list and she tried to focus on finding something decent.

And she did - a skirt, a blouse, and everything else put itself to pieces in a blink of an eye. Doing whatever she could with her hair, Alice rushed to the door and opened it, trying to stop herself from breathing heavily as if she just ran a marathon. "So...sorry...for kee-keeping you waiting here."

"No worries, I showed up here unexpectedly anyways," Tyler replied to her with a warm smile. "You look great, by the way."

"Oh, thanks," Alice chuckled as she straightened out her skirt. "You too."

The couple exchanged some awkward and warm smiles as usual before Tyler snapped out of his gaze and gave her a flower from behind. "Something to start the evening on the right foot."

Alice smiled out of joy at such a sudden present and gently took it out of his hands. "Gosh, thank you, you truly are full of surprises."

"I hope that's not a bad thing?" Tyler shrugged unsurely.

"It's not."

"Remember what you told me that night?" Tyler curiously asked her as he pulled up to the spot.

"If it's something embarrassing, I forced myself to forget it." Alice chuckled.

"You said you wished you could watch the shooting stars," The boy said as their looks met each other. "And it just so happens, tonight is the peak night for them of the year."

Alice stared at him shocked and laughed. "I...I have no words, you actually planned this way ahead."

"Well then, don't say anything, just watch." Tyler said and the two got out of the car.

It turns out, Tyler pulled up to the lake and prepared the port for them. But the port only consisted of some wooden planks put above water, all of them held together by poles, stuck in the water.

Even if it was pitch black, Tyler could see Alice was struggling to walk over through the grass with her shoes and lent her a helping hand. "Here, hold on to me." He said and she gave him her hand. Being the nice person that he is, Tyler let her climb onto the port first and see the finished look.

"Wow, so is light not allowed tonight at all?" Alice softly chuckled as she made sure not to fall into the water.

With a blanket on the porch, some snacks, and drinks for the night, and a start night sky - Tyler truly outdid himself.

"If you want to see the shooting stars, then yes," The boy told her. "The light can ruin it."

"But how am I supposed to-to see you?"

"You'll feel me."

Alice could see some facial outlines on Tyler, but his silhouette standing right in front of her was much more visible.

Tyler invited her to sit down and they did, but very carefully, so they wouldn't fall in the water. Alice lifted up her head and tried scouting for some shooting stars, but saw none. "I don't mean to sound impatient, but when will we see them?"

"Whenever," Tyler shrugged. "No one can anticipate when one might cross, but knowing you like to anticipate things..." He brought her back memories from their night at the cafe.

"I do," Alice nodded. "But the suspense is killing me."

A small silence set in between them and Tyler quietly admired her beauty. Because of the nighttime, all they could wear were some frogs and occasional nocturnal animals, but that didn't phase them at all.

"You remember the night and how you fell asleep in my car?" Tyler asked her.

Alice heavily sighed. "I do remember some glimpses, but no, not really." She noticed how Tyler nodded in response and looked away a bit disappointed. "Why? Is there something you need to tell me?"

Tyler refused to answer her and stayed quiet.

"Come on, I'm sure it's not that bad. You're not some sort of cold-blooded killer, right? Then tell me."

"When you fell asleep," Tyler began. "I just carried you upstairs to your apartment. No, your aunt wasn't there and nobody saw, but-"

"That's nothing wrong, Tyler," Alice cut him off with a chuckle. "In fact, I should be thanking you for taking care of me." She put her hands on her legs just as she noticed the singular shooting star above them. "Look!"

She stood up one the wooden port as Tyler warned her not to. "Wait, Alice, don't stand, it's not-"

And he warned her for a good cause because when Alice took a step forward, she fell straight into the lake's water. Tyler, completely flustered, jumped in after her and began to quickly check on her.

"You okay? Nothing wrong?"

"I'm fine, it was a small fall designed for jumping in!" Alice told him as the two floated in the water and laughed with each other. "God, you must think I'm such an idiot..."

"No," Tyler brushed the soaked hair out of her face and smiled. "It was a common mistake...of not listening to me."

The girl scoffed at his comment and playfully splashed some water into his face. "And I don't regret it."

Tyler brushed the water off his eyes to look at the girl and without thinking twice about it, he smashed his wet lips against her and the two fell right into a deep kiss. Tyler moved the wet hair strands from her face as Alice furrowed with his.

Alice giggled when he put his hand around her waist to bring her closer to him and wrapped her hands around his neck. "You have no idea how much I loved tonight."
