"See? You've been worrying about nothing, Alice!" Enid happily said, gently putting her hand on Alice's shoulder. "He's totally fine, tell her." The blonde said to Nancy who sat down next to the two girls, carrying her coffee from the counter.
"He's fine. This only shows how you always expect the worse and end up finding out it's nothing like it." Her aunt said, proudly sipping her cappuccino. "It's always the same."
Alice kept her look down at the table as Enid comfortingly rubbed her shoulder. "Now I feel like an idiot. Accusing him of being a monster? What was I thinking?"
"You were confused," Enid told her. "So were we, but now, when everything's finally settled, you can move on and don't feel guilty, that's a big problem of yours."
"Yeah..." Alice agreed with her and drank her coffee. "I just need to move on, that's all."
"You have a shift now, hopefully, that will help you take your mind off things." Nancy reminded her. "I was so happy to know you wanted to come back. The cafe hasn't been running the same without you, you know?"
"Yeah, with Tyler," Alice said. "I'm praying it won't be awkward between us."
"Well, didn't you end your date with a make-out session?" Enid asked her but instantly regretted it after remembering Nancy was sitting across them. The blonde girl went silent, but Nancy only laughed at her reaction.
"It's fine, talk about stuff like that around me how much you want," She brushed it off. "And yes, they did."
The three women all laughed together, getting some stares from other customers around them, but not caring enough to look at them. As tears of laughter began to fall down, Tyler walked into the cafe at that right moment and saw them enjoying their time.
He felt mesmerized by Alice's bright smile and only after seconds of staring at her in awe, he broke out of his gaze and walked over to them. "Was there something put into that coffee or what?"
"Oh, no, no," Nancy wiped away her tears. "We're just having a, uh, a laughter moment."
Tyler nodded in understanding and turned to Alice. "You ready?"
"Yeah, let's go," Alice replied and stood up from the table, saying goodbye to Enid and Nancy, before following Tyler over to the counter.
"They seem inseparable, don't they?" Enid daydreamed, watching the couple walk away together. "They make me believe in love."
"I'm happy Alice picked a normal guy rather than some typical stoner boy in this town," Nancy agreed. "Which there is quite a lot of them."
Alice and Tyler walked behind the counter and began to put on their aprons. "Don't try and tell me it doesn't feel good to be back again." The boy chuckled.
"Believe me, it does," Alice answered, trying her hair together out of her face. "I needed some sort of distraction from life anyways, school has been kicking my ass lately."
"I can only imagine." Tyler tried consoling her.
The two began to prepare the cafe together, but when Ms. Thornhill walked in through the door, making the bell above her ring, it caught Alice's attention for a moment. Tyler had mentioned she came here looking for her before and she was now here again.
