Ch. 12 One Shall Rise Part 1

Halo POV

I watched three familiar figures appear from the Groundbridge, dragging a badly injured Optimus.  Arcee, Ratchet, and Bulkhead had saved Optimus from Megatron, while Bumblebee stayed behind to operate the Groundbridge. Optimus looked fatigued and could barely keep his footing while Bulkhead and Ratchet helped him.

"Yes! Easy, Optimus. From the looks of things, you've been exposed to a massive amount of Dark Energon" Ratchet told Optimus. Optimus looked around until his eyes landed on June and Raf.

"I am not the only one" Optimus said. I watched Ratchet and Bulkhead guide Optimus to a large metal-sized bed beside June and Raf. Optimus glanced over to where Raf and gave him a small smile.

"Hey" Raf said weakly with a small smile on his face. June raised her gaze to look at Optimus with her eyebrows furrowed and a serious expression written across her face.

"He's lucky to be alive" June said, making Optimus's smile quickly fade away into a frown. I stared at him sympathetically after seeing his face change so quickly.

"Megatron found more of the dark stuff?" Jack asked, walking down from the platform with Miko. I was sitting down on NightWave's shoulder watching everything from a distance.

"A volcano full" Arcee answered.

"The question is, "how?"' Bulkhead asked.

"No" Ratchet interrupted. 

"The question is, "what?" As in, "What in the world is the blood of Unicron doing here on Earth?" Ratchet asked.

"Unicron? As in the same Unicron that you told me about in your stories?" I said, looking at NightWave, who in return looked back at me and nodded.

"The 'Cons kill a Unicorn?" Miko asked and glanced over at the others with a confused expression on her face. I chuckled at Miko as everyone stared at her with dumbfounded looks on their faces at her statement. There was an awkward silence before Miko spoke up again.

"White horse with a horn on its head? Prances around all sparkly?" Miko explained, but Ratchet quickly corrected her.

"Unicron. An ancient evil whose fossilized blood comprises the matter which we call Dark Energon, as legend would have it" He stated and turned his head over to where June and Raf stood.

"So, you're saying this Unicron is some kind of boogeyman?" June asked, raising her brow questionably. I tried to hold my laugh when she said that. 

"Boogeyman"?" Ratchet repeated confused.

"Make-believe creepy guy who hides in your closet" Miko suddenly briefly explained. Ratchet faced Miko before turning around to meet June.

"No, nurse Darby. Unicron is very real... um... was" Ratchet replied, while June stepped forward with her arms crossed in front of her chest.

"That is, well, I do believe he once existed. I just don't subscribe to the theory that his primordial life force is the substance which... harmed Raf" Ratchet explained, momentarily pausing for a bit before continuing with a slight frown.

I watched June finally decide that that was enough and motion with both hands for the conversation to halt, not wanting to go any further than what was explained.

"I've heard enough" she said, placing her hands on the metal bars on Raf's medical bed, raising it up, and beginning to pull it.

"Jack, please, help me get Raf into the car" June ordered Jack and he quickly followed his Mother with a confused expression.

"Mom, I thought he was doing better" Jack said. He sounded a bit stunned. His Mother, however, turned her head over her shoulder to look at her son.

"Raf needs to be examined by 'real' doctors, and Raf's family needs to know what's happened" June stated turning her head around to the others before finally saying.
