Ch. 13 One Shall Rise Part 2

Everyone was standing around the main computer.

"Optimus, have you uncovered any further signs of Unicron's emergence?" Ratchet asked just as we all heard the voice of Unicron on Optimus's comm link.

"I take that as a "yes." We are on our way" Ratchet told Optimus, but just then Optimus' voice came over the comm link stopping them from going.

":: Negative. Unicron cannot be defeated by sheer force. He wants me, Ratchet. This fight must be mine alone::" Optimusa said. 

Everyone looked at each other with the same thought in mind before looking at Ratchet and nodding. Ratchet nodded back and opened a Groundbridge so that Arcee, Bulkhead, and Bumblebee could go through.

It was silence as everyone waited for the other on the other side to communicate back. Finally, we got a call from the Femme Autobot, Arcee.

":: Ratchet::" Arcee called.

"What is it? What happened?" Ratchet asked through the comm link.

":: I happened::" a deep but familiar voice declared. My optics widened when I heard that voice.

":: Megatron?!::" Bulkhead asked in disbelief.

"King 'Con is there, too?" Miko asked.

"He has aligned himself with Unicron" Ratchet explained.

":: Don't be so sure. Megatron just saved Optimus' tailpipe::" Arcee said making everyone go into shock. After Optimus and Megatron engage in their usual archnemesis banter, Megatron reveals the reason he's there: He wants to team up with the Autobots to destroy Unicron. 

"Ha! Absurd! Unicron is evil incarnate. If Megatron was to take any side, why would it be ours?" Ratchet asked. He sure wasn't going to trust Megatron that easily, which he shouldn't have.  

":: Because Megatron's pride would never allow anyone other than himself to rule this planet::" Optimus spoke up from the other side of the comm link.

":: You know me all too well, Optimus::" Megatron stated.

":: You lead an army of 'Cons. Why come to us?::" Bulkhead questioned. 

":: Because this particular endeavor requires something beyond the realm of my command... the power of a Prime::" Megatron responded. 

":: Ha, then I guess we don't need you::" Bulkhead stated.

":: On the contrary, Optimus may be the only one who can defeat Unicron, but I remain the only one who can guide you to him. Unicron's lifeblood runs through me. Only I can hear his thoughts and anticipate his movements::" Megatron said, pausing for a second before speaking up once again.

":: Optimus, our past alliances -- Autobot, Decepticon -- no longer matter, not while Unicron lives::" He added. Just then, Ratchet slapped his servos on the monitor's keyboard and angrily yelled.

":: The past always matters!::" Ratchet shouted. Everyone looked at each other before looking at Ratchet with a bit of concern in their eyes. 

Megatron kept explaining how he was the only one who could lead them to Unicron and Optimus deduced that since Unicron is at the center of the planet, they will have to Groundbridge to the Earth's core, much to Ratchet's dismay. 

":: Optimus, even if we survive the jump, how are we supposed to stop Unicron?::" Arcee asked. A dead silence surrendered the base as everyone wondered exactly how they were going to stop Unicron.

":: With the Matrix of Leadership::" Finally Optimus spoke. 

"What is that?" Agent Fowler asked. Ratchet sighed and answered him.
