Ch. 25 New Recruit Part 1

I followed Optimus and the other Autobots into the broad dark forest beyond the Groundbridge. A few trees had fallen over, and in the center of everything was the massive escape pod with a long trail of blue Energon flowing from it. Slowly and steadily we approached the pod in case of an ambush or attack. Upon nearing the escape pod, I observed a massive, gaping opening directly above it.

"It is of Decepticons origin" Optimus declared as Arcee brushed dirt off the Decepticon emblem on the pod.

"And the con inside blew its way out" Arcee said.

At that moment, shots were being fired in our direction. Immediately we hid behind some small debris and began shooting back. It was a small group of Insecticons and Vehicons.

"All those Cons came out of one pod?" Arcee questioned.

": I seriously doubt that that many Vehicons and Insecticons could have fit within such a small vessel" I said, shooting down a Con. After battling for the Decepticons for so long, it felt a little strange to be on this side of the battlefield.

"Humans refer to the phenomenon as a clown car" Ratchet remarked, turning his left servo into a blade. At that moment, an Insecticon charged at Ratchet, slamming him into the giant boulder behind him. Arcee arrived and executed a critical hit on the Insecticon's faceplate before it could charge at Ratchet, distracting it long enough for me to fire my blasters at it. I observed as the Insecticon looked over at Arcee before grabbing and raising her. Swiftly switching my weapons back to my servos, I pulled out both of my double blades and launched them straight into the Insecticon. I struck a double strike on the Insecticon's faceplate and chest, killing it instantly with a few howls of pain and sparks.

": Are you two okay?:" I asked. I helped the medic get back up on his feet and extend a helping hand to the two-wheeler when she abruptly slapped my servo away. I gave a nod, retrieved my dual blades from the lifeless Insecticon, and proceeded to shoot the approaching Vehicons. I had unit weaponry, I had rather the unit set with my servos instead of turning into a pair of blades, I got two retractable blades that I can pull out at will.

As we continued to fire at the Cons, gunfire from behind unexpectedly altered our attention. As the rest of us continued to fire at the Cons in front of us, Arcee and Bumblebee turned to look back.

"Incoming!" pointing her weapons at the newcomer, Arcee let out a shout. I turned around just in time to see a young Mech racing straight towards us, painted blue and red with primary white paint.

"Down in front!" He shouted, sprang over us, and opened fire on the several Cons. He then swiftly got into a shooting and dodging duel with them.

"Friendly?" Arcee asked while the newcomer continued shooting, but all of a sudden one of his shots hit the spill Energon trail, instantly setting it on fire. Our optics all widened in shock.

"Fall back!" Optimus ordered as we dashed to safety behind a few big rocks, away from the massive explosion. Our view was obscured by a thick cloud of smoke, dirt, and debris that flew everywhere. As soon as the dirt and smoke cleared, I saw Optimus hovering over me. I blushed a bit but it was quickly covered by my mouth piece.

"Are you okay?" He asked, assisting me. I nodded and accept his assistance while gazing at his memorizing optics, but the newcomer's words quickly pulled us back to the present.

"WHOO! Too hot for you, Cons?!" He shouted in a mocking voice while on top of a rock. I rolled my optics and ignored everyone while I checked the damage from the explosion. Definitely, it was huge. I mean, the explosion destroyed all the enemy, but it also took down a couple of trees and there were blue flames everywhere. 

As for the new Mech, "Torching that Energon leak... pretty good plan, right?" He asked.

"Except that it wasn't your plan" Arcee snapped, "It was a random shot that almost fried us to a crisp."

"But work out, didn't it?" He answered back. I need to admit, the kid got guts. And based on that brief demonstration, I could already tell that he is a very young man who hasn't spent much time in the field because of his recklessness. 

"Thank you, fellow Autobot. Your... valor... is to be commended" Optimus remarked as he advanced to confront the youthful Mech.
