Years Later

"Fulvus, Clint, report."

Fulvus lifted his head from Clint's bed and strode toward the bathroom. Clint was taking a hot shower and the steam flowed from shower into the rest of the bathroom almost blinding Fulvus.

Fulvus looked over at Clint's hearing aids. He had gotten those when a bomb went off dangerously close to him and he lost 80% of his hearing. He hated the idea of anyone calling him mostly deaf so Fulvus just called him sensory challenged. Besides, the aids were so small that no one could see them. There were about as large as a fingernail.

Fulvus chirped a bit but Clint couldn't hear him. He growled as he pulled back the curtain to reveal a naked Clint. "Ah! Fulvus what are you doing?!" His voice was loud and almost rung in Fulvus's ears.

Fulvus pointed his wing toward the hearing aids and Clint reluctantly popped them in. "So what do you want Fulvus? I'm taking a shower here."

"So I can see. Fury wants us. I think it's important. There's been a lot of buzz around here," he explained as he tossed Clint some clothes. "Now get dressed. We don't need a naked Hawkeye."

Fulvus was proud since he had come up with Clint's nickname. Everyone always said that hawks had sharp vision, although Fulvus had to differ that eagles had great eyesight too, so he thought that Hawkeye fit in perfectly. Clint had even come up with one for him.

"Alright, Griffin, give me a second!"

Fulvus chuckled as he sprang forward and waited patiently for Clint. Once he had finished getting dressed they strode from the room. Fulvus passed numerous agents that looked at him in awe. They had certainly become the best agents around and he was happy to report he hadn't be called a freak in a while.

They made it to Fury's office and Fulvus passed Todd. He gave a small nod before he entered and Crest plucked a few of his feathers. Fulvus growled at his strange humor before Fury stood and crossed his arms.

"We have a special mission."

"What kind of mission," pressed Clint in the same monotone voice that Fury had.

Fury raised an eyebrow. "This is important, very important. I need you to guard something."

Fulvus snorted as he rolled his eyes as he tried to make out the words so that Fury could understand. "We don't usually guard things."

"This is very important," repeated Fury and Clint clenched his fists.

"Just tell us what we're guarding." They had to do some crazy missions but guarding something usually wasn't on the list. They had even watched a hammer be infused in the ground and a mad man want to grab it who turned out to be something of myth like Fulvus. Guarding something sounded like something for someone else.

Fury looked up and sighed. "It's called The Tesseract."
