A/N I went and bought myself the stupid birthday boy ribbon cause I wanted it also as of like an hours and a half ago I'm officially 17. ^paintball rules up top^
Bella's/Bees POV
Twas the school winter break and the cabin was quiet.... jk I don't wanna write a whole chapter like that.
I've been at camp for 2 days now and besides the normal stuff sibling fights, training injuries, etc it's been pretty nice. I'm at camp for the winter break and wen I first arrived I got to camp late at night and was happily greater with karaoke in my cabin it was for Nicola's birthday and I gave him one of those cheesy birthday boy ribbons from the dollar store and made him wear it the rest of the night. The next day I woke up to chaos everyone was running around yelling I got up and tried to find either Nicola or Jasper to tell me what was going on. I pulled Janvi to over tot he side and asked "have you seen Nico or Jasper" "yeah out front" she said before quickly running past me back to her bunk. I walked out the front door and there they were "what's going on it's chaos in there" I asked.
"Did you forget to tell her" Jasper asked turning towards Nicola "kinda hard to say when the only iris connection is from a dorm room kitchen sink" he replied "so no" Jasper said turning back to do what he was doing before. "Tell me what" I asked "Paintball day" he said "what's paintball day?" "camp wide paintball game cabin with the most points wins if you get shot you have to go the big house." "Anything I can do to prepare" I asked nervous "hide you're a head councler people are going to be after you" he said that did not help my nerves "why did I do something" "nope just exist" he then explained the whole paintball game and that head counclers so me, him and Jasper were worth 5 points if we got shot. "So how will they know which cabin you got shot by" I asked then Jasper shot a paintball at the wall behind me "that's how" he pointed at the yellow paint splatter "perfect or corse we are yellow" Nicola complained "probably just easier with you know he whole children of the sun thing" I told him "yeah whatever go get ready" he said as he walked past me back into the cabin.
The game started at 8 am and was to go till either 8pm or till only one cabin was left. Jasper, Nicola and me were hiding in our cabin bathroom and had one person right outside the door guarding and the rest of our cabin was either gaurding from inside the cabin or outside trying to get people out. There was a paper on the back of the door with each teams colour it was pretty predictable Poseidon was dark blue, Demeter was green, Ares was red, Athena was grey, Apollo was yellow, Hephaestus was orange, Aphrodite was pink, Hermes was light blue, Dionysus was purple and the minor cabins had their own as well. Once the game started we could hear yelling outside as the first batch of people got out but after about 10 minutes it calmed down and was almost dead silent. Every couple minutes we would look out the small window we had in the bathroom but couldn't really see anything. For most of the time we just either played bored games we brought with us or Jasper played his guitar.
Around lunch time someone blew a pound horn to announce that lunch was ready which got a bunch of kids to come out of their cabins and get out smart tactic not sure who actually came up with it but we didn't fall for it Jasper had prepared premade food for the whole day so we just stayed and ate that. At about two pm we heard a knock on our window and I looked over to Nico not knowing what to do. He quietly opened the door and asked Mads who was standing guard to go see who it was in case they were trying to get us out. She walked over with her gun ready and peeked out the window then let out a sigh "it's Phee" she said. Nicola got up and opened the window "what do you want" he asked I heard the two go back and forth for a minute or so then he just said "fine go around front and then we'll help" then he sat back down.
I couple seconds later Phee came in with Katie one of the younger Aphrodite kids she looked like she was about to throw up. "We can never get a day off can we" I asked "Nope" Jasper and Nicola both said as they got up to go help Katie. They got Katie seated on a bed and I went over to Phee to find out what happened "Are they ok" I asked "well we prepared food in advance for today so we wouldn't have to go out and maybe we should have made food that wouldn't go bad cause I think they got food poisoning" Phee replied. "We can't test her here we have to go to the infirmary" I said "4 head counclers walking out in an almost completely open area towards the only safe zone that totally won't go wrong" Nicola said annoyed "if this is a trick to get us out I will kill you Phee" he continued "I swear it's not and no one can lie when they are in this cabin expecialy me sadly" she said it's true some people can lie to Nicola but very few people can lie when they are in the cabin of the god of truth.
"Then who's gonna go" I asked "draw straws" Jasper suggested everyone nodded. I went over and grabbed 4 pencils two blue and two red then put them in a bag. We all took our turn and in the end it was Me and Jasper who would go bring Katie to the infirmary well Phee and Nico stayed here. We decided to go out trough the back window to avoid getting out the second we stepped outside and right as we closed the window we heard Phee yell "Seriously Travis" and Nicola laughing. We walked along side the back of the cabins and right as we passed the Demeter cabin we heard a paintball gun click "freeze" I knew that voice it was Liana I turned with my hands in the air and motioned for Jasper and Katie to do the same "Lia we are bringing a sick camper to the infirmary please" I pleaded
"I believe you but what I see is 11 points so what's in it for me in I let you go" she's smart I mean she's a daughter of Athena so makes sense but still. "If you get us to the infirmary I'll let you shot me" Jasper said "interesting proposal" she took a second tot hunk it trough " deal" she said putting her hand out but right as Jasper went to shake it she pulled away "only if you get me sour patch watermelons" she added "deal" Jasper said then they shook on it. We were practically invincible to the Athena cabin now which was good but there was still every other kid we had to be weary about. Once we got to the end of the cabins it was an open field run to the infirmary. This would have been a lot easier if we have someone with charm speak or someone like Bea who could warp peoples sense of reality then we could distract people and get to the infirmary.
Basically all we had to do was step foot onto the first step and then we were safe from the game we all just ran as fast as we could Jasper and Liana had their paint guns ready to shoot and we're watching our backs as I helped Katie walk. Once we got to the steps me and Katie went up which meant we were safe and I turned to see Jasper who'd put down his gun making his loss so dramatic and Liana shot him right on the forehead owww that ones gonna leave a mark I tought. Jasper got up to make his way to the big house and as Liana turned around to walked back to her cabin She got shot right in the chest with a black paintball I looked up to see who it was it was a hades kid I was hoping it was Nyx getting revenge for lia getting Jasper out but it was a new kid they looked around 14 had I'd never seen them before I guess we have a new hades kid and their aim is really good.
They was using the trees shadows to hide I almost missed her. Right after though they ran off as their hiding spot was compromised. I walked trough the infirmary doors and helped Katie to a bed so I could treat them. Gave her some medicine to help with the food poisoning and then just hung out with her cause I technically wasn't on duty. Soon 8pm hit and the horn was blown to tell us the game was over and for all the head counclers to come to the big house to announce the winners and to get our prizes. I meet back up with Jasper and Nicola at the big house doors and as we walked into Mr.Ds office we all got shot with purple paint right in the forehead. It didn't count as points he just wanted tos shot us and we couldn't really get mad at him so we just took it.
We waited as all the other head counclers cane and he did the same thing the only kid who got mad was Bea. Bea is a child of Dionysus so it didn't bother them to yell at their dad. They took a few minutes to tally up all the points and in the end the top three teams got prizes in third place was the Hephaestus cabin that wasn't really fare they probably made their own paintball machines guns but whatever they won a candy basket and some drachmas. In second place was the hades cabin they won a free item form the camp gift shop for each camper in their cabin and a free switch chores with any cabin once ticket.
And first place was the Poseidon cabin they were lucky though because Mr.d didn't want to have kids annoying him all day so once the game started he walked right outside to let the first camper take him out which Charlie was waiting for and immediately started her cabin with 50 points. The Poseidon cabin not only won no chores for month but also got a double of what the second and third place got. Forth place was the Athena cabin and we got 5th. Overall it was fun except for when Lia wouldn't leave Jasper alone till she got her candy. If this was my first day back then I don't know if I'm excited or scared for the rest of the holiday break but whatever it definitely going to be interesting.
