1465 words :)
TW: talk about a car accident, drunk driver, miscarriage, abuse, orphanage, and bullying.

3e person POV:

Riley Mae Foster is currently 16 years old and lives in the 'Early Rise Home'. This is an orphanage. Riley has been an orphan for four years now. Her biological parents had a car accident when Riley was 12 years old, they both died on impact. Unfortunately, Riley had no other family, so she moved into the closed available orphanage, which was pretty far away from her hometown. So, Riley left everything she knew at the age of 12 and started a ''new'' life. But before we get into that let's look at her life with her parents Adam and Veronica Foster.

_______
_._._._._

Adam and Veronica Foster loved their little miracle named Riley Mae Foster. After several miscarriages, they had given up hope. That was until Veronica fell pregnant again. They were over the moon but still cautious. Adam did everything around the house while he insisted Veronica stayed home and preferably in bed. After a few months, they grew more confident with the pregnancy and fell more in love with what they called their little miracle.

On the 29th of November in 2006 Adam and Veronica welcomed their miracle; a baby girl named Riley Mae. They immediately fell in love with her sage green eyes and brown hair. She got those feathers from her mom. The shape of her nose and mouth were a hundred percent her dad's. She was a real combination of the two except for her cute freckles on and around her nose. Riley was an easy baby, she rarely cried, and loved cuddles from both her parents. When she grew older, she was undoubtedly a mommy's girl. Her dad always called her 'Lee' and that was their special thing. Riley and her dad loved watching and playing soccer. Veronica always called Riley by her first en middle name; 'Riley Mae'. With was more special to Riley since more people would call her 'Lee' but only her mom would call her 'Riley Mae'. Riley and her mom loved playing board games, watching movies (marvel included of course), and baking.

As much as Riley loved her life at home, she hated it at school. When her parents thought her freckles were cute other kids would say they looked stupid and ugly. Where her scale would show she had the 'perfect' weight for her age and height, her classmates would call her fat. Riley always sat alone, and she did all her projects alone. She would skip her lunch and hide out somewhere in a hallway or corner. If she did eat the other kids would make fun of her because, in their eyes, she didn't need more food. Riley's parents never knew she was bullied. They knew Riley was anxious to meet people, but they thought Riley was just a shy kid. One of the things that helped Riley was watching Marvel movies. She loved them with all her heart, even after her favorite character died. Of course, no one could replace Natasha, but Wanda became a close second.

When Riley turned twelve years old, she desperately wanted a room makeover. She didn't like the pink walls, the small bed or the poster from kid shows anymore. So, on a random Wednesday, a day when both her parents were off work, they went to the store to buy new furniture. Adam and Veronica had it all mapped out. They would go right after they dropped Riley off at school and if they worked fast enough her new room would be done before they picked her back up at the end of the school day.

On their way back from the story Adam and Veronica were singing along to the music and just having fun like they always did. They couldn't wait for their little miracle to see her new room. Sadly, they never got to see this reaction. They didn't even make it back to the house. While Adam and Veronica were happily singing along to the radio together while still closely watching the road, a random guy had another bad day.

He fought with his wife again. Spend the night in the bar again. Was drunk again. Might have even cheated on his wife again last night, he couldn't remember. Deep down he knew he shouldn't be driving; he was still drunk or at least not sober enough jet. That didn't matter, he had to get to his work. A job he hated but needed to pay the bills. He was running late so he speeded a bit thinking it would be alright. This was not the first time he drove in this state, and he knew it wouldn't be the last. He didn't regret it; this was just how he lived life and secretly he loved it. He loved his wife but loved fighting with her just as much because it would give him an excuse to leave the house, go to a bar, and drunkenly hook up with a much younger girl after which he would drink more. If you don't remember it didn't happen right?! your wife can't find out about it then and he would still get what he wanted. Last night was one of those nights. He was a drunk driver that was speeding and kind of falling asleep. He didn't see the stop sign. He didn't stop. He drove right passed it without looking.

Adam glanced around the intersection. He knew he could just drive; he didn't have a stop sign on his side of the road. Something inside Adam said he should look one more time. That's when he saw the speeding car that was not slowing down. ''OMG,'' he said while slamming his brakes. Veronica looks in shock and saw the speeding car as well, all she could do was scream, while Adam was desperately trying to get the car to stop.

Before anyone knew it, they crashed. Two people died on impact, and one was slightly injured. Two loving parents who just bought their kid new furniture for her room. The parents who loved each other and their little miracle. Two people who loved almost everything life had to offer, even the bad parts. Two people dead. And the drunk driver, who also loved his life, walked away with a concussion. That doesn't seem fair. But it is the way it was. The way it went. Riley screamed and cried for as long and as much as she could when the police told her what happened. She couldn't believe it. She didn't want to believe it, but she had to.

________
._._._._._.

After that Riley lived in a few foster homes, sometimes they would act like she didn't exist, sometimes they would abuse (physically and mentally) her, and other times she would have a lovely home for a second only for her to be kicked out when a younger kid showed up. After two years of bouncing around she was placed in an orphanage called 'Early Rise Home' which is led by Brooke Anderson. Riley gets pretty much ignored at the orphanage. She is the oldest there, but she doesn't interact with anyone except Brooke on where she would be that day.

Riley is always busy. Never really has a moment of silence so she can't think too much about her life. When she does do that, she panics and gets more depressed than she already is. She is struggling but doesn't let anyone see that. She just carries on while pretending everything is fine.

Riley doesn't even want to be in the orphanage, so she has two jobs next to her soccer training. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays she works in a local coffee shop as a barista. On Friday you can find her in the bookstore. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, she has soccer training and most Saturdays she has training or a game. Her other free time is spent on homework and hanging out with her best (and only) friend, Faye.

Riley and Faye go to the same school and have some classes together. They met on Riley's first day when she was 14 years old. They hit it off instantly.

This is where we find Riley on December 14th of 2022. A girl who just turned 16 years old, almost gets straight A's (except for chemistry) has one friend and no one else. She longs for a family to love her as she once was. A mother to spill all her secrets to, to tell she isn't feeling well. A father to play soccer with. Someone to bake her favorite cookies for or with. Even just one person cared about her as a parent should but she gave up hope. No one wants to adopt a random 16-year-old, right?!

Well, we will see...
