TW: Small panic

Riley POV 

I walk to the carpool lane while talking with Levi. We've been getting to know each other this week. We have a few classes together and wait for each other by our lockers for lunch and at the end of the day. Today has been a slow day but the weekend has finally begun. Levi and I wish each other a great weekend and he tells me he will text me a bunch, which I don't mind. I like having a friend like him. 

''Hi Liz!'' I say as I open the car door. 

''Hi sweetie, how was your day?''

''It was fine. I'm happy its weekend now.'' I say with a smile while I buckle myself in. 

''Mhh, do you have a lot of homework today this weekend?'' She asks while looking at me. 

''Not a lot, I think I can tackle most of it in a few hours, but my test week is also coming up, so I have to start learning for that,'' I explain and she nods. 

''Well, how about we go to the coffee shop since you don't work at the bookstore anymore. I thought we could have some drinks and snacks and then do some work there.'' Lizzie says with a smile and I nod, sounds like a plan.

''I'm okay with that,'' I say with a smile and Lizzie drives off while I put on some music. 

While Lizzie finds us a nice sitting spot I order drinks and make some small talk with my coworker Lila. I always used to see her during my Wednesday shifts but since I only work on Sundays now I haven't seen her. We talked about why I cut back my hours and I just said that school had been busier. I ask about her son Rider and she tells me all about how he is doing. It's a little busy so after paying I offer to make my own drinks and she accepts that gladly. While making my favorite coffee, a chocolate latte, and Lizzie's lemon grass and ginger tea I help Lila with some orders as well. She thanks me and gives me some muffins on the house which I gladly accept before walking to the table Lizzie chose. 

''Helping out?'' She says as I sit down and I nod.

''Got some free muffins out of it,'' I answer with a smile before biting into the chocolate one, leaving the blueberry for Lizzie. She takes it and eats it with a smile on her face.

We spent the afternoon working. Lizzie was behind her laptop a lot, I did all my homework in like two hours. Right now I'm learning for my test week and I hate it. I don't get however thought it was a good idea to do tests. They suck. 

''Hey, uhm. Look outside, I think that's for you two.'' Lila says as she walks by. 

''Shit'' I hear Lizzie say under the breath and I look outside. There are loads of people with cameras. I already feel the panic picking up. ''Riley, sweetie, can you pack up? We're going to go before the crowd gets worse.'' Lizzie says and I nod. I put all my stuff away and I notice my hands are already shaking. ''come here, sweetie.'' Lizzie, who suddenly stands beside me, says and opens her arms for a hug. ''I've got you, you're going to keep your head down, and let that beautiful hair fall on the side of your face okay, hold on to my hand and arm. Don't let go. I will guide us to the car, then you will get in and I will drive us away. We can pull over for a breather but first, we need to leave this situation. Are you on board?'' Lizzie instructs and I let go of her before answering. 

''I'm on board,'' I say softly and she smiles at me. 

''One, very, important thing. Don't answer them. Whatever they say, let it go. Let them be. okay?'' She says sternly and I nod. We grab our bags and thank Lila for the refills and the head-up on the situation outside. I take Lizzie's hand and wrap my other arm around hers. ''We've got this, sweetie.'' She says one last time and kisses my head before we both take a deep breath and step outside where we're immediately blinded by the flashing lights. It only takes a few seconds before they begin yelling stuff while Lizzie pushes us through the crowd.

''IS IT TRUE THAT YOU'RE PREGNANT?''

''ARE YOU GOING TO BE IN MCU MOVIES FROM NOW ON ELIZABETH!?''

''WHO IS THAT GIRL?''

''WHY ARE YOU WITH LIZZIE?''

''DID YOU HAVE A SECRET CHILD?''

''WHO'S YOUR FATHER?''

''ELIZABETH HOW IS ROBBIE HANDLING ALL OF THIS?''
''WILL YOU STOP ACTING NOW THAT YOU ARE PREGNANT?''

''IS IT TRUE THAT YOU AND ROBBIE BROKE UP?''

''ELIZABETH OVER HERE!''

While Lizzie made out way to the car my breathing continued to pick up. I panicked a little when I felt Lizzie letting me go but we were at the car. She saw my panic but knew we still had to get away because they were following us and almost surrounding the car. I quickly let her go and she ran to the driver's side while I got in. Lizzie drove away quickly before putting her hand on my leg for support. My hand finds her and I play with the rings on her fingers in a desperate attempt to calm myself.  

After what felt like months but was probably closer to a few minutes Lizzie pulls over and opens the windows for some fresh air.

 ''What do you need, sweetie?'' Lizzie as she turns to me.

''I don't know. What do you need, Liz?'' I ask knowing she isn't doing all too good herself but she will hide it from me. Sadly for her, I see through her sometimes. 

''How about we go home, get in some comfy clothes, and watch some movies while cuddling on the couch,'' Lizzie says and I nod. 

''Should I text Robbie to pick up some takeout?'' I ask and Lizzie smiles knowingly. I text Robbie to bring home some food and he says that's fine. He asks if we're alright because Lizzie was really excited to cook this new recipe. I texted him a little over what happened and I could read that he was angry. He texted that he would be home as soon as he could before going back to work.

When we get home I tell Lizzie about my text with Robbie and she smiles. We both get into comfortable clothes, grab ourselves some tea with a piece of fruit, and snuggle on the couch, putting on some random comedy movie and waiting for Robbie to come home.

I feel like I've messed up Lizzie's tea order but I fact-checked it for this chapter! Her usual order is; a tall lemongrass and ginger tea!
