—sorry for the delay, i accidentally made a 6,000 some word chapter so i had to cut it in half😂—
Today I get to move back into my room. The doctors decided to keep me a final night just to keep an eye on me. My shoulder was absolutely killing me, and my face was aching. I felt overwhelmed by the guys constantly coming in asking if I could leave yet, my answer never changing. The nurses have yet to give me my discharge papers, and I was getting anxious. I wanted my privacy back. I was told I'd get two weeks off the field, but I have to complete physical therapy without any complications. God forbid it, but if I'm not healing properly, I will have to take more time off.
My legs are killing me, I need to stand. I turn my body to the left, allowing my legs to dangle off the bed. I stretch them before slowly sliding off the bed, being mindful to not move my arm that has been placed in a sling. My legs are wobbly, but it feels amazing to finally be able to get out of that damn bed. The top of my hand feels funny from the iv that had previously been in. I know it's weird to think about, considering my shoulder was shot, but it was bugging me.
"I thought you needed someone to help you up." Ghost says as he walks through the door, his voice vibrating through me. I scoff.
"If I sit in bed longer I think my legs will fall off." I'm glad Ghost is here. I was getting sick of all the pity the other guys were giving me.
"They're bringing your discharge papers, then we have to meet with Price." I was dreading this moment. I had gone against Ghost's orders in order to complete the mission. I hated being lectured. I quickly sit back on the bed as a nurse walks in.
"I'm not going to yell at you." She says jokingly. "If you're ready to stand, then stand." She says handing me my papers. I quickly skim the papers, my eyes finding the meds I have been prescribed.
"I think there's been a mistake." I say, showing her the papers.
"What's up?" I look over to Ghost not wanting him to hear. I lean in closer to her.
"I'm not supposed to have any kind of pain meds that can lead to addiction," I say ashamed. "So I can't take hydrocodone." She nods and gives me a reassuring smile.
"I'll have that fixed for you hun. Would you like to wait here or should we give you a call?" She asks.
"A call would be great." I say looking at Ghost. He doesn't seem to be paying attention to our conversation, so I'm hoping I can keep it a secret from him.
"Okay! You're all set to go then, guys!" I watch her leave and I stand back up out of bed.
"You're okay to walk?" Ghost asks me.
"Yes, Ghost. I'm fine." I say giving him a smile. My knees felt weak as I go to take a step. Ghost notices and comes to my side watching me closely. As I put all my weight on my right leg my knee wobbles, causing me to stumble. Ghost steps in front of me while grabbing my waist, accidentally moving my left arm.
"Fuck." I say, wincing in pain. He immediately moves his arm from me and goes to my right side. I grab onto his forearm and we head out the door. As we're walking I can feel how strong he is. I sneak a couple of peaks at his tattoos, admiring them.
"You like them?" Embarrassed I was caught, I look up into his eyes and smile and we continue to walk across base to the house.
"Yes."
Finally, we made it to the house. As we head towards the stairs Ghost walks behind me, his hands hovering over my waist. I'd have no problem walking up the stairs, but feeling his fingertips land on my sides makes me weak. Why the fuck am I thinking like this? I push my intrusive thoughts aside as I walk up to the last step. We take a left, seeing Soap standing outside of Price's office.
