Third-person pov:

"Bloody fucking hell! What are we supposed to get her?" Ghost's raspy voice says in frustration. Soap laughs at him, finding it amusing how much Ghost is overthinking this.

"Ghost, it's really not that hard. A couple of t-shirts and a couple of pants." Soap says smiling at Ghost. Ghost turns his gaze toward the women's underwear table, taking notice of how similar one of the pairs was to the ones y/n had in her bag. Soap looks over at Ghost noticing he's eying the women's underwear. He chooses to ignore it, he thought it was nice Ghost was going out of his way for someone, especially a woman.

"How much does she need?" Soap asks Ghost. Ghost redirects his attention to Soap again.

"She doesn't have a lot at all." He responds.

"Let's get her a couple of outfits then. Does she need pajamas, or are you going to continue to let her wear your clothes?" Soap says smugly, nudging Ghost's arm. Ghost rolls his eyes, thinking of how dumb Soap can be at times.

They end up grabbing a total of 3 outfits for work, a couple of loungewear, and a pair of pajamas for her. They had silently agreed that shopping for bras would be a no-go, they didn't want to push any boundaries with y/n. As they were walking up to the checkout area, they take notice of a couple of townsfolk keeping a close eye on Ghost. No matter how hard he had tried to hide his mask, people always seemed to notice.

"Did y'all find everything alright?" The cashier asked them. Ghost mumbled in response as Soap went to look at something. As the cashier checks him out, Ghost notices a charm bracelet, for some reason it reminded him of y/n.

"Are you interested in buying the bracelet?" The cashier asked him sounding hesitant. Ghost picked it up, and studied the charms. There were a couple of random gems, but the main charm was a crown. He looked over to see if Soap was paying attention, then placed the bracelet on the counter. Once she rang it up, she placed it in the bag and gave him his total. Once he paid he took a hold of the bags and Soap came back to his side, leaving the store.

y/n's pov:

I've been training with Price for a couple of hours now and I'm incredibly sore. My legs are wobbly and weak, they distract me from the slight pain in my shoulder.

"Good job kiddo." Price says as he taps my shoulder. "We can be done for the day. Please take me up on my offer. You can always come back afterward." I simply nod and watch him walk away. I feel lost in my head, and I need to ease my mind. I decide to go ahead and return to home base. We didn't have much to do, I finished my paperwork for the day and we're all waiting on another lead on Hannish. As I walk back, I take in the Sun's heat, feeling it warm my back. When I walk inside, the cool air hits me and it seems to be a dramatic change in temperature. I walk by a couple of guys as I walk to my room, but I feel myself shrink. They must've noticed it as well because they didn't try to talk to me, they just moved away. As I open the door to my shared room, I see a couple of bags set on my bunk. I examine the room, cautious to make sure I'm alone. I shut the door behind me and walk to the bags. As I open them I see a note.

Knew you were busy, so I went and picked these up for you.

-Simon

Fuck. I had completely forgotten I was supposed to go to town with him. I set the note down and pick up the clothes he had gotten me. There were basic work outfits and a couple of everyday outfits, along with some pajamas. He must've been really good at examining my body's size, or he had checked to see what size I was in. Either way, I'm thankful he saved me the time of having to go shopping. Once I take the last shirt out of the last bag, I hear a jingle as I see something fall to the floor. I bend down to pick it up, and once I take a hold of it, I see a beautiful bracelet. I've always wanted one. I examine the charms and put it on, staying mindful of the fragile clasps. It fits perfectly. My lust over the bracelet ends when I hear my phone go off, and I read the text.

I hear you may be coming back for a couple of months!! I can't wait to see you again!

It was Amelia, how I missed her. I think it'd be good to go back for a bit, just to get away from everything.

Yeah, me too. You won't be able to see me much though.

Why? :((((((((

I didn't want to break the news to her, or anyone else so I chose not to reply. I placed my phone in my pocket and packed up, knowing that I have to accept Price's offer.

Third-person pov:

"So, what's going on between you and miss l/n?" Soap asked Ghost, aiming the pistol at the target. Ghost sighs.

"Nothing." Ghost grumbles. Which was true, nothing had been going on between them, besides the fact that Ghost felt this overpowering feeling to protect her.

"Simon, I know you've got a little crush on her." Soap continues.

"Bloody hell Lt. Will you leave it be?" Ghost says still watching Soap aim at the target. Soap says nothing more and starts to shoot at the target. Ghost says on the chair behind Soap, thinking of her. He began to think getting y/n a bracelet was weird, he'd never given anyone a gift before but it felt nice. He got enjoyment out of it.

A couple of hours went by and Ghost continued to think of y/n, how soft her skin was, and how she smelt, he admired her unique beauty. Ghost liked looking at pretty things, but humans were never on his list of beautiful things up until she came along. Ghost began to grow angry with himself as he remembered the night before. How could he let something like that happen to her? She was the most fragile, gentle person he had met. Soap picked up on energy shift as Ghost aggressively shot at the targets, hitting them directly in the middle.

"You alright Lt?" Soap asked him softly. Ghost stood there with the pistol in hand, pointing at the target as his mind began to replay the image of her laying there on her bed. Exposed, afraid. The images quickly came to a stop when they heard a car door in the distance. Ghost snapped his body toward the house and saw a vehicle leaving.

"What's that about?" Ghost asked looking at Soap.

"I have not a clue." Soap responded. Ghost starts walking to the house he's eager to know what's going on, and Soap follows. As they walk into the house, it's quiet. Ghost starts to walk to the shared room, expecting to see y/n. When he walks in he sees the room is bare, her things are nowhere in sight. He quickly turns around and walks down the hall to the room she had once stayed in. The door is open so when he looks in he sees it is completely empty as if y/n had never existed. Soap just stands back and watches him. Ghost's heart begins to pump harder, his breath begins to increase.

"Ghost." Soap begins to talk but Ghost rushes past him, his destination being Price's office. He doesn't knock, he just bursts into the room.

"Where is she." Ghost demands, Price wide eye from the sudden outburst.

"She'll be back." Price says noticing Ghost is acting out of the norm.

"When."

"About six months. I thought it'd be best for her to take some time off the battlefield. She's returned to her old base for some more hands-on training." Ghost just looks at Price. She didn't say goodbye. Ghost didn't know what he was feeling, but he knew it wasn't a good feeling.
