She could hear her heartbeat hammering as they stood like a statue on the dance floor. They felt as if it was just the two of them in the world. Nothing else mattered in that moment, just their eyes locked together in perfection. Their cheeks burned, showing a bright hue of red.
The moment died instantly and their gaze repelled as they craned their heads away when Samuel's phone buzzed. They both snapped back to reailty.
He reached for his phone inside one of his front pockets, and instinctively mouthed a profanity quietly so that Celestine wouldn't hear him, for ruining such a moment.
Celestine looked away, dragging her attention into finding something interesting to look at while Samuel answered the call.
"Hey Man. It's John. We're already here. Where are you?"
"I'm having a lunch somewhere near the airport. We're coming.. Maybe in an hour."
"We? Is Annie with you?"
"No. It's not Annie. She told me she can't come today. She'll be coming tomorrow."
"If it's not Annie? Then who? Tyler?"
"Tyler can't come today either. I'm with Celestine."
"Celestine? Ohh. Your fake girlfriend?"
"Uhmm.. Yeah."
"What a rebel! Ha-ha. Okay then. See you in an hour."
"Okay. Bye."
Sam turned his attention to Celestine who was then staring at the other couples around them waltzing to the music.
