Chapter 24
Tyler plopped to the ground and Samuel stood frozen in the sudden turn of events.
Paul was just purely evil. He wasn't satisfied with what he just did. He pointed the gun to Samuel once again.
Samuel clenched his teeth. If there was something he wouldn't feel guilty about, that was killing Paul right at that moment. His shoulders rose as he took one final deep breath before courageously stepping towards Paul. Everything's going to end here. Everything's going to end now and no one, not even my conscience could stop me from making sure that the man in front of me would be dead in a second. He clutched his fist tightly by his side just as he gave him a stabbing stare.
"Trying to be brave this time, aye? Take one more step and I'll shoot you in the head, Samuel Jake!" Paul said wickedly. His eyes darted against Samuel's. But Samuel remained unfazed and kept his plucky look.
Just as Samuel lifted his right foot to step, the door opened. The police were just in time before another person could have been killed.
Samuel was freed from panic and anxiety as soon as the police got hold of the Paul's gun. Soon enough, Paul's hands were tightly locked with handcuffs and the police took him to the police station.
Samuel bent on his knees by Tyler's side. The tears incessantly rolled down his cheeks as he stared at him. He was more than a friend. He was like a brother to him. This was the third time he cried out because of losing someone. First was when he found out that her sister had gone off hiding in Canada. The second was when Celestine was taken away from him.
A police officer approached him and questioned him about what happened.
"Hi, sir. I just want to ask you a few questions," the police officer in a neat blue uniform inquired.
"Do you have any idea of the nature why Mr. Paul had attempted to kill you?" he asked demandingly.
Samuel told the police about the history of him, Celestine and Paul and the police jotted down every piece of information on his notepad.
The interview with the police officer didn't take that long. Once it was finished, he reached for his phone to ring Joseph.
"Hey, man. It's Samuel," his voice croaked weakly.
"Are you guys okay?! What happened?!" Joseph asked frantically.
"Ty-Tyler's.. Tyler's.." He stammered. A lump mysteriously popped inside his throat just as tears mysteriously found its way out of his eyes.
"What?! Tyler's what, Samuel?!" Joseph shouted at the other end of the line.
Samuel cleared his throat and replied slowly and quietly, "He's.. dead."
