Celestine cackled; her shoulders continuously and repeatedly dropped and rose.

"Oh, man. I didn't know you could pull such corny joke, Mr. Weirdo," Celestine managed to choke out in between hysterics.

Celestine's bursts of laughter was too infectious but Samuel tried his best to resist it. He kept his guards up and stayed straight-faced. He cleared his throat, his expression deadpan, before saying, "Celestine, I'm serious."

Her laughter gradually trailed off. She gagged out from seeing Samuel's serious look. Her perfectly formed eyebrows furrowed as if she was asking him if he was really dead serious.

Samuel couldn't take it anymore. Her reaction was priceless. He cleared his throat and stuttered in between uncontrollable laughs, "I didn't know I could fool you that easily, Ms. Eavesdropper. Look at you--.. your face.. It's so funny.. You look funny when you're serious."

Celestine's face scrunched; puzzled and confused. What the hell just happened? He was so serious seconds ago and now he's laughing? Are you freaking kidding me? Was his brain affected too or something?

"I'm kidding, Celestine. Of course, I'm not your husband.. I could be a really good actor, right? Oh, Ms. Eavesdropper.. You trust me so much," He chortled, clicking his tongue as he said the last sentence.

She scowled at him and smashed her fist on his hard chest while laughing a little, thinking how stupid she was for believing and pondering at some foolish statement from the man that she loves.

"But. I would like to be, Celestine. So--" Returning to his serious demeanour, he muttered humourlessly, his voice sharp and edgy.

She cut him off, "Shut up, Mr. Weirdo. You're telling me you would like to be my husband? C'mon we're not even in a real relationship yet. You.. haven't.. asked me... yet.." She was trying to be witty about the subject but became sombre after the realisation that he hadn't officially asked her yet.

He caressed her cheeks gently and cautiously with his soft thumbs before uttering, "Please, let me finish Ms. Eavesdroppper.  Yes, I would like to be your husband.. Somedayyy. Not now.. Just like what you've said, we're not even in a relationship yet. And this is why I'm asking you now..." He paused and took a deep breath, saying, "Ms. Celestine Louie Sanchez, Will you be my girlfriend?"

Celestine's eyes widened. Her heart rate picked up and lurched against her chest. A lump popped at the back of her throat refraining her freedom of speech. Is he really asking me this? Oh my gosh!

A train of thoughts clouded her mind. She snapped out of it when Samuel said, "Yes, Ms. Eavesdropper. I'm really asking you this."

Her mouth dropped. Her surprised expression swung to downcast facials.  She realised that she was saying her thoughts out loud. Oopss.
