Kaori(Artemis)

After leaving Ash in the stairwell I returned to my office. I took Inu and placed him in a spare room. I tried to start working, but I was distracted. Ash kissing me was surprising. Him even trying surprised me as well. I was stuck in the body of the woman he hated most. I was thankful he tried. I'm just glad he didn't force himself. The only issue I was having was I hadn't done anything like kiss someone in a thousand years. It felt like someone lit up every nerve in my body and I was extremely horny. I plugged in my earbuds and focused on my work. It was extremely difficult. By the time I was finished with work I had decided to do something I would never do in my past life. Go to a bar and have a one night stand.

???

"I've got her in my sights, boss. What do you want me to do?" I heard chuckling from the other end of the phone.

"Make her aware of our presence. That we know she's not the real Artemis. We will make her pay for what she did to Apollo. Maybe then, my father will lift our curse." The line went dead.

I smiled and walked into the bar that Artemis had just walked into.

This is going to be fun.

Kaori

I had just sat down at the bar and gotten my first drink. I looked around the room. No one really caught my attention, however being able to hear their thoughts didn't help at all. I had a rum and coke in front of me. It was disgusting, but it would have to work. I wanted to enjoy myself, but that looked slim to none.

She's here. At the bar in a black dress.

I sighed.

Seriously?

I chugged down my drink, "check please?"

The bartender smiled at me, "rough night?"

He had pretty blue eyes and brown hair. Cute.

I smiled back, "you have no idea. Have a good night alright?"

I put some money down, "you too, beautiful."

Damn she's hot. I'd love to have one night with her.

I smiled.

I'll try to get together with him after the end of this shit I have to deal with tonight.

I grabbed a napkin, "do you have a pen darling?"

"Yup, here ya go," I took it from him and wrote my personal cell down, "give me a call after your shift."

I winked at him and turned away. I walked at a slow pace out the door to seem normal.

Target is in the parking lot.

I reached a car that wasn't mine and then a knife was at my throat.

"You made this foolishly easy, you goddess imposter." I've got her right where I want her.

So stupid and arrogant.

I gripped his wrist and broke it. I took the knife with my other hand and pinned him to the car with the knife to his throat.

"You are foolish to think you could catch this goddess imposter." I threw him down to the ground.

I heard the sound of footsteps and then guns. I spun around. I was face to face with someone pointing a gun at my head. I could not hear his thoughts. I looked at him by tilting my head slightly. Black hair and swirling silver eyes.

Strykerius, or Stryker for short. Shit. I seriously couldn't catch a break.

"Hello, nephew. To what do I owe this visit?" He smirked at me.

"You're not Artemis. You're simply someone who stole her place. How'd you do it? How'd you get my father turned into a human for 10 years? Tell me?!" I was unimpressed.

"You wish to know," I knocked the gun from his hand, "I was not the one who chose your despicable father's sentence. It was Savitar, one who enforces rules to those gods and goddesses who break them. You really think doing this will bring him back? Why would you want him back? He has done nothing for you Stryker. I know that much, Stryker. You think that by rescuing him, or punishing me you'll win over his favor? If you believe that then you're foolish Strykerius."

He tilted his head at me, "you think that I want him back? He has done nothing for me. However, if I were to ensure his time as a human was easy I think he would be eternally grateful, don't you Auntie Artie?"

I cringed at that nickname. I hated that name. No one had called me Artie in a thousand years. I stepped forward until I was eye level with him.

"Stryker," my eyes were glowing, "I despise that name. I hate it so much I want to rip your tongue out. However, nephew, I won't because I am not the old Artemis you knew. That doesn't mean I won't monitor you, nephew. I know of your plan to betray the one who has saved your's and your children's lives. How do you think she would react to that Stryker?" He looked afraid.

Good. This little bastard needs to learn his place.

I smirked at him. He narrowed his eyes on me.

"You wouldn't," I crossed my arms over my chest, "you think I wouldn't? I would do everything in my power to protect Matera. She saved me and trusted me in this world. Besides, she has been through enough. The last thing she needs is someone she considers family hurting her again."

I glanced around. These people around me were apollites who had been cursed by Apollo. Savitar had Apollo's powers. Maybe I can do something to undo their punishment. Even with Stryker threatening me, it was partially Artemis's fault he and his children were cursed.

"Stryker," he looked wary, "you and I have no bad blood. We have not seen each other once in a thousand years. Just because the old Artemis did what she did and won't help you and your children doesn't mean that I won't."

Stryker looked confused, "as if you could help me. As if you would. I'm threatening you."

I glanced around again. Some of these people were my family. I wouldn't abandon them. I looked back at him.

"We have one thing in common Stryker," I stepped up to him, "we want what is best for our children no matter what. It doesn't matter how we protect them, we'll do everything in our power to keep them safe. Let me try to do what Artemis should've done years ago. Let me try to undo what he did. I can't promise anything, but I can try."

Please let this work.

I glanced around the circle. I could hear everyone's thoughts except one. He looked familiar. He looked like Stryker, but I saw Styxx in him. Was this Urian? I spun to Stryker.

"Do we have a deal," Stryker glanced at Urian, "no."

Shit.

They began shooting. I dodged as many as I could.

"Urian," I saw two bolts heading for his back, "no!"

I couldn't let him die.

I transported in front of him. The bolts hit me. It felt like fire coursing through my veins. I couldn't breathe. I fell to my knees. I turned to Urian. I showed him an image of Bet'anya and Styxx.

Your real parents. Find them. Speak to Apollymi.

Stryker gripped my chin. He didn't bother to hide his hatred.

He takes after his father in that aspect.

"Enjoy the Charonte Poison and Ichor. It won't kill you for awhile, but it will be painful." I glared at him.

I meant what I said Stryker. Or else it would've been your son in pain.

I glanced at Urian.

Stay safe little Urian, and do not speak to your father about what I told you. It will anger him and put you in danger for he has no knowledge about your true heritage.

I vanished back to my temple.
