Kaori
It had been a month since I last saw Inu. Ash had tried to drag him back, but he wouldn't come. I told Ash just to give him time. During the month I had began getting nasty headaches combined with nausea and heartburn. I groaned as I left the office and made my way to the little food place down the street. It seemed they were one of the the only places I could eat without feeling like I was going to vomit. It was always really bad in the morning and evening, but the headache seemed to be around the cloak. I groaned as I stepped in line, the headache was back tenfold. I felt nauseous and got out of line I rushed to a trash bin and heaved the crackers and water I had this morning.
"Miss, are you okay?" I looked up.
I gasped in surprise. It was Tory. The long brown hair in braids and brown eyes with circle glasses. The shirt with a long skirt and flats. The nausea grew and I took a seat on a bench.
"Do I need to call 911?" I shook my head.
"No," she looked concerned, "could you fetch me a glass of water, please?"
She rushed away and came back quickly with a glass of cold water. I took a sip and sighed in relief. The nausea seemed to vanish and I smiled at her.
"Thank you for helping me. I'm Kaori, and you are?" She seemed surprised.
"I'm Soteria, but I go by Tory for short." This is definitely her.
I couldn't hear her thoughts, so that was another clue.
"Thank you so much, Soteria. It's been a rough month. Can I buy you a coffee?" She looked down at her watch.
"Actually I'm trying to meet someone. It's my second time trying to convince him to translate a journal I found in an archeological site," I laughed, "are you talking about Ash Parthenopaeus?"
"You know him," she seemed skeptical and I smiled, "of course I do. He and I are good friends. Let me call him."
"Really?" I nodded and pulled my phone out.
I dialed Ash's number, "Kaori? What's wrong? Is everything okay?"
"I'm fine Ash. I actually have someone with me here who needs you to translate something for her," I heard him sigh, "Kaori I'm not translating anything for Soteria Kafieri."
I turned a bit, "Ash get your ass down here, now! If you don't I'll hunt you down myself."
"Okay, okay. I'll be there shortly." I hung up and turned to Tory.
"He'll be here soon, Soteria," she smiled at me, "really?"
I nodded, "really. Ash and I go way back. He'll be here."
I smiled and then she slammed into me with so much force we almost toppled off the bench.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" I smiled and hugged her back.
"You're welcome, Soteria," she pulled away, "please call me Tory."
"Alright," I heard a sigh, "alright Kaori I'm here."
Ash was right behind Tory. I turned Tory so she could face Ash.
"Ash, this is Tory. She has a journal that she needs translated." Ash frowned at me.
"I know she does. I told her no," I raised a brow at him, "excuse us a minute Tory."
I stood up. I reached up and grabbed him by the ear, pulling him a bit away from Tory, "ow! Let me go!"
I did once there was some space between us and Tory.
"Acheron, you will translate that journal for her. Do you understand me," he frowned down at me again, "why? Why would I translate something that would share secrets of my life?"
I reached up and gripped his chin turning his head to Tory, "Ash, she is the one."
I let go of his chin and he went silent. He turned to me and looked down at me.
"How do you know?" I could hear the emotion in his voice.
"I knew the instant I got close to her, Ash. I couldn't hear her thoughts," I looked at Tory and smiled, "go to her, Ash. I promise you that you won't regret it."
I looked up at him, "how sure are you, Kaori?"
"As sure as I was the day I met you that she would come into your life. She found the archeological site she was supposed to. I may have changed things a bit with becoming Artemis, but she is your happily ever after, Ash. Fate decreed your meeting a long time ago. Go to her, Ash."
He looked at her and then back at me, "you're sure?"
I shoved him, "go. Or else I'll drag you back over there."
He put his hands up and I laughed, "go on, Ash."
He smiled at me, "thank you, Kaori."
I nodded and he walked back over to her, "good luck, Ash."
He didn't hear me, but I knew they would get to where they did back when I read his book in my world. I felt sad and looked up to the sky.
I wish you were here Inu. I miss you.
I smiled as I saw Ash and Tory talking. I turned around, trying to fight tears that threatened to spill. I was happy for them, but I missed Inu. I started walking back towards the office. I passed the main entrance and went into the sanctuary entrance. I smiled at the few supernatural beings who were there. I went into my own quarters. Once the door was closed the tears fell. I slid down my door. I let my head fall and I gripped my head with my hands. I missed Inu. I missed him so much. The smell of food wafted in from the sanctuary kitchen and I rushed to the toilet throwing up again. Once I was done I flushed. I laid my head back against the wall. I let the pain and sadness out and just cried.
