A/N: Okay first, none of these pictures are mine. I found them on Google. Secondly, this picture is Acherons symbol. Not how it will look on my OC, but I wanted you all to see the original. Oh, and please do go read Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It is an excellent book and really thick. Anywho onto the story! Oh and this chapter is really short.
Also just in case Matera, is another name Apollymi is called. I think it means mother, but I'm not 100% sure.

Acheron

After the door was shut I could hear her sobs on the other side. A large part of me didn't care. I felt she deserved whatever was making her cry.  There was a nagging feeling in the back of my mind. It said that Artemis wasn't Artemis. She would've never been caught on the ground, let alone surrounded by dogs. Her dress never would've been that color. She never would've brought back all those Dark Hunters either. Not without some sort of payment. I went to my mothers realm.

"Matera?" She appeared.

"Hello my son. What is it?" I smiled at her.

"I need a Charonte demon Matera. One to keep an eye on Artemis. She's up to something." She smiled at me.

"Apostoles I am far ahead of you. I have already sent one to watch over her." I smiled.

"I'd expect nothing less Matera." She smiled at me in return.

"Did Artemis tell you of the oath?" I tilted my head.

"What are you speaking about Matera? What oath?" A strange look crossed over her face.

"She didn't tell you," she looked out the window, "you should go speak to her Apostoles."

I was confused as to why she was speaking so gently about her.

"Why should I Matera? Artemis is the bitch who caused the most pain over the years." My mother faced me.

She looked as though she wished to speak to me. That there was something she wished to say to me.

"You should speak with her my dear. I think you'll find that the Artemis you saw today is not the same one from before. I cannot say why because it isn't my story to tell. In a few days go to her, Apostoles." The sorrow I saw in my mothers eyes confused me.

"What chance should I give her Matera? She is a monster! I am finally free of her. She can rot in Kalosis for all I care." I saw a twinge of disappointment in her eyes.

"Very well my son. I love you so. I will not bring it up again. I must leave my son. I love you so Apostoles. Stay safe." She walked into another room.

Why would my mother tell me to go to Artemis? What had changed in less than a day?

I left Kalosis and went to my temple. It didn't matter. I wouldn't go to her. Artemis granted me my freedom. I would never go back to her, ever.
