"Shit. Shit. Shit!" Trilla shouts as soon as we get back to the ship, taking her helmet off and throwing it down onto the pilot's seat. "He's going to kill me. I mean he's actually going to kill me."
"Us. He's going to kill us." I mutter, my mind spiraling with thoughts of everything that has just happened, too distracted to focus on how much trouble we are going to get into for failing what was supposed to be a simple mission.
"No he isn't. You're the Grand Inquisitor. That gives you some protection. I'm just an inquisitor. I'm dispensable to the Empire."
My heart almost breaks for her. If she knows how shitty the Empire is to its loyal 'servants' why do they do all this crap for them?
I guess it's the same reason we all have for doing what we do. We don't have any other choice.
"I'm only a temporary Grand Inquisitor. When Miro gets better, I'll be completely unnecessary to Vader and the rest of them." I tell her, trying to reassure her that we are in this together, but I know we're not. She's an Inquisitor because she wants to be, whether out of fear or because she genuinely agrees with their way of ruling, she's here for a completely different reason to me.
And what with Vader being the Chosen One, the entrapped Jedi directly below his (and our) base camp and Cal possibly being alive, despite thinking him to be dead for five years my mind is in a spin.
I collapse into one of the chairs in the cockpit and immediately fall into a deep, restless sleep.

The seventeen year old launches himself at me. I feign right and duck left but his lightsaber still manages to graze my arm. Luckily, with it being on the practice setting, it only sends a slight shock down my body.
"Nice move, Cal!" I tell him, ruffling his hair. In return, he glares at me and subtlety flashes me his middle finger, careful as to not let our masters, who are only on the other side of the room, see him.
I glance at them now and notice that Master Tapal is nodding his head in approval, clearly just as impressed as I am about Cal's growth as a Jedi. Not that he's had much of a choice, what with the constant missions and war negotiations, we've all witnessed things that one shouldn't so young. But if it brings peace and prosperity back to the galaxy, well then I'm happy to keep doing it.
I turn back to the padawan that I am happy to call my brother and see that he is distracted by something (or someone) a few feet away from us. "Hey, what's got you so distracted?"
He spins to look at me so quickly that I suspect if he wasn't a Jedi in training he would have lost his balance from the momentum of it. "What?" he pauses, caught off guard. "Nothing! I'm not distracted. You're the one that's distracted. You could have easily dodged that hit."
"I could have but..." I peer over his shoulder. We are in the large training room, pairs of masters and padawans sparring around us, my eyes scanning the crowd for anything that could have potentially distracted him. And then I see her. "Ah. I see now."
"See what? There's nothing to see."
"You do know it's only natural."
"Huh?"
