I am awoken the next morning by the beeping of my comlink and for the first time ever I choose to ignore it, throwing it down on the bed beside me and laying my head back down on my pillow. I can feel a headache forming behind my eyes, but for a few precious moments I can't remember what could have possibly triggered it. That is until it all comes crashing back to me.
I groan, burrowing my head further into my pillow, knowing that I should be dragging myself out of my bed and finding out who was trying to contact me but I just can’t find it within myself to do anything other than continue to lie here, staring up at my ceiling.
Thinking of… well thinking of the kiss that never should have happened and yet struggling to feel any kind of guilt that it did happen. I think of the way he carefully brushed his lips against mine, asking my permission, before leaning in and completely stealing my breath away. It feels strange to think about how, just a few weeks ago, I was planning on taking the man’s life. So much has been revealed to me over such a short period of time and it’s making my head spin.
I sit up, my stomach feeling woozy, my brain unsure of what to do next but before I can decide for myself there is a frantic knocking on my room door.“Come in!” I call out and in rushes Fives.
“Where have you been? I’ve been trying to contact you all morning.”
“I’ve been here.”
“Oh. Well you’re needed in the hangar so hurry up and get ready. We’re already ten minutes late.”

I walk across the metallic floor of the hangar, my footsteps echoing throughout the room. I stop when I reach the large group of people, milling around the center of the hangar, Fives among them. Also with them is Fifth Brother and unfortunately for me I have just stopped right beside him.
“Finally managed to drag yourself out of bed then? I told the trooper that’s where you would be, you’ve always been so lazy. But he said that you were probably busy working on inquisitorial stuff. I can now see…” he looks me up and down, “that wasn’t the case.”
“It’s funny how me, as lazy as I am, still beat your ass to the position of Inquisitor though isn’t it? And his name is Fives by the way, in case you forgot.”
“I didn’t forget.” he mutters under his breath, snickering to his friend beside him.
Asshole.
I scan the other’s, looking for familiar faces, ones that won’t make me go insane and that’s when I realize I know the guy Fifth Brother is snickering with. He’s not someone I have officially met, but I do know he’s the captain of the Imperial Security Bureau, also known as a paradise for entitled idiots.
“Agent Kallus reporting for duty.” he says, turning to me, still snickering. I choose to ignore his obvious antagonism, knowing he and Fifth Brother are friends so it’s likely he’s put him up to aggravating me, and I nod at him in acknowledgement.
Suddenly I know that this meeting will be an important one. Something big must have happened for the Empire to need not only two inquisitors but also members from the ISB to help aid a mission.
I’ve never had to work with the ISB before, something for which I am grateful if Trilla’s rants are anything to go on. She hates the ISB with a burning passion. But it’s not just her who seems to have a problem with them. I’ve heard snatches of conversation from Stormtroopers that the lot of them think they are better than the rest of us. This is probably the reason why Kallus and Fifth Brother get on so well.
