I collapse onto the bar stool and breathe out a sigh of relief. I finally have a moment to myself. It's not that I don't appreciate the party Trilla has thrown in honour of my victory yesterday, it's just that I'm tired of people, who might I add have antagonised me about being an (ex) Jedi for the past two years, congratulating me and acting as though they have always been my best friends.
I glare at one woman, as she now walks past me, and she grins back at me. It's a grin that shouts I'm your biggest fan. I know for sure she was betting on Fifth Brother winning.
The sound of something scraping across the bar breaks me out of my thoughts. I spin around on the stool to see Rex pushing a strange looking drink my way. It's a drink I haven't seen before but then again, I don't really have time to sit in bars drinking, not as much as I would like to anyway. It is made up of lots of different shades of orange and yellow, the kind that is reminiscent of the sun, and the perfect amount of ice clinking against the glass.
I take a small sip of it, cautious because I don't usually like cocktails, but this one is good and I don't waste any time in telling Rex exactly that. "I might have actually found a drink that I like more than Jawa Juice."
"Really?" I nod and his smile widens. "Your taste buds have been saved from that horrendous substance that I refuse to call a drink!"
"Hey! I'll have you know that Jawa Juice is one of the best things to have been created." He practically snorts at this. "But humour me here. What is this drink called?" I still as I hear the familiar voice of my friend shouting my name from across the room. I shrink closer to the bar, hoping that she will forget that she has seen me but apparently that's not how people work because she continues to head towards me. "I think I'll be needing another one very soon." Rex raises his eyebrows but then notices the figure barreling her way towards me. Thankfully for my own sanity, another inquisitor stops her and her attention moves from me to her other friend, answering whatever question she has just been asked.
"It's actually a new drink of my own creation. I like to call it Binary Sunsets."
"That's such a pretty name. How did you come up with it?"
"Well, it's kind of silly really." He pauses but I motion for him to continue. "Someone I... err... used to know lived on Tatooine but they moved away for a chance at a better life. Anyway when their last remaining family member died, we used to go back for the anniversary every year. I used to go with them for moral support. But now, now that they are also gone, and I have no legitimate reason to go back, I thought I would name a drink in both of their honour. To show that despite everything that has been lost, I am still here to tell the story."
"Awe Rex, that's so sweet." The story makes me think about how much we have all lost. Even being on the side of the victors didn't stop these people from losing so much. He looks sad for a few seconds before his whole face transforms to one of happiness. I turn around to see what suddenly cheered him up and wish that I hadn't because standing right behind me is Trilla, a gleeful yet, very obviously, drunk expression on her face.
"(y/n)! I've been looking for you everywhere. Ooh your drink looks pretty. I'll have one of those when you're ready Rex." She turns back to me. "Wait right there. I'm just going to pee." And like that she is gone once more.
"Would you like another one too?" Rex asks, glass in one hand, a towel in the other. He throws the towel over his shoulder.
"That would be amazing. Thank you. I think I'll need you to keep supplying me with these. It's the only thing that will get me through the rest of the night."
