JIMIN POV

Going to the cabin was a much bigger production than I had anticipated.

While it was close to all amenities the "driveway" was over a mile long.

It was perfect for us to be our shifter selves but it was shitty
in the winter.

I didn't mind shovelling.

Heck, I didn't even mind messing with the finicky snowblower but
a mile was a long ass way in the cold.

Reindeer shifter or not, I preferred being snug by the wood stove with a cup of cocoa than clearing a path for the car.

"You ready, Snow?" I grabbed the cat carrier and set it on the ground and she walked right in.

The vet never believed me that she did this but she always had from the time she was a kitten.

She loved the backpack even more.

It was already in the car along with far more things than I probably needed.

"Let's go find our home for
the next month or so."

I felt bad leaving on Thanks-giving day but I spent the day with my parents and all that
was left was the Black Friday festivities and Tree Lighting Festival and all the other
things I was trying to avoid.

I had five other people try to
get me to do one of their events since I made the decision, affirming that it was in fact
the best idea I'd ever had.

I felt a weight lifting off of me
as we drove out of town and
to the family cabin.

By the time we arrived, it was well past dark and the driveway was a pain in the neck to navigate.

There had been some early snow and since we tended to ignore the place come winter, no one had been hired to deal with that, making that my job for the next morning.

There was enough on my plate between heating the place, turning the water back on and getting the car unpacked.

It could wait.

"Ready for our new home for a while?" I grabbed the carrier
and went inside.

I'd forgotten how homey the place was.

Unlike my parent's house which was pretty modern, this place
was filled with furniture they had been given by my grandmother as a newly mated couple and even then it was second hand.

I wouldn't quite call it vintage, since none of it was connected by a specific style or time period but it was all so welcoming.

By the time I had it warmed up and the car unpacked, I was ready for bed, Snow curling up by my feet.

Sleep came quickly and the next morning I woke, ready to deal with the driveway.

The snowblower needed more help than I could give it.

It had been a couple years since we'd been here in winter and it probably needed a small motor mechanic to get it running again.

So with Snow at the window watching anything and every thing, I began the arduous
task of clearing the drive.

It was the first day of many
that I worked on the place.

A trip to town gave me the supplies I needed to complete my parents' list and one by
one I ticked them off.

I even managed to get someone to fix the snowblower, as well as some grocery shopping and did
a couple favors for my boss.

By the end of the week I was bored.
