Having to pay an extra night at the hotel when I hadn't even stayed there would normally have bothered me.

I hated wasting money, even though I earned an excellent salary as a lawyer and the den was in good shape financially.

But one of the reasons that was the case was because I did care about not frittering away money.

I'd grown to love the quirks in hobi's car or perhaps I wasn't paying attention, my mind filled with My mate, our two nights together and us mating.

Choosing to take the backroads home where there was less traffic, I allowed my mind to wander but thinking of me plowing into Jimin's slippery, slick-filled hole had me
almost run over a wolf.

And not a wild beast the fire in his eyes told me he was a shifter.

After that, I pushed Jimin out of my head and was content with inhaling his aroma which, even after our shower, was in my hair and on my skin, to say nothing
of the tux.

Yeah, I was that guy.

Instead of changing clothes
when I returned to the hotel, I kept the damned tux on.

It was the only outfit I had at
the cabin and it was infused
with Jimin's fragrance.

I know, I miss him too.

The phone beeped and I swerved onto the wrong side of the road trying to grab it, when I was aware I should have done the sensible thing and pulled over.

But I'd met and mated a reindeer shifter in the space of twenty-four hours, so I'd deleted the word sensible from my dictionary.

I was tempted to turn the car around and head back to the cabin but I had responsibilities, at the den, the office and court.

And it wasn't fair to Tae, who'd only returned to work just prior to me leaving.

Hobi and the baby were fine, which was why I'd been able
to attend the gala.

Jia, who looked after Gia when Hobi was at work, was keeping the human company, which allowed my Beta to spend most of the day in the office and then work from home on den business.

Besides, Tae wasn't prepped for
a trial as he wasn't co-counsel
on this one.

I couldn't throw him in the deep end, That would be the height
of unprofessionalism.

As well as pissing off my client, which would be well-deserved and possibly generating a complaint against me to the
bar association.

Rather than go straight to hybe Den, I detoured to the office, hoping I'd catch Tae before he headed back to his family.

Even though it was Sunday,
he'd messaged me saying he
was in the office.

Felix was at his desk and he stared at me and I returned his gaze.

"Why are you here on a Sunday?"

He shrugged. "Catching up on work."

Feelings of guilt flooded me.

The combination of Tae having time off to be with his mate and me being distracted and then going to the gala had caused a backlog of work.

"Go home, Felix." I strode into my office leaving the door open.
