*EDITED😮‍💨*

I just sit on my bed and stare at the wall. My thoughts were racing at a hundred miles per hour. Wednesday waited for the Sheriff to uncover Rowan's body with Principal Weems. Even though I had no idea what the hell was going on and wanted to, I sat and waited for them. I was still unable to grasp the events I'd witnessed.

"Dahlia!" I direct my attention to the door, which is now open and reveals a panicked Yoko. "What the hell happened? When last I heard, Wednesday and you saw Rowan die?" As she soon approaches my bed, Yoko gives my arm a soothing pat. I merely nod. "Well, I know you probably aren't in the mood but...Principal Weems is asking for you"

I walk alongside Principal Weems and Wednesday, Sherriff Galpin walking behind us. Sherriff Galpin had told us they couldn't find Rowan's body.

"How could you miss a dead body?" Wednesday asks.

"'Cause it wasn't there. No footprints, no blood, no sign of a struggle. Nothing, nada. My search party looked all night."

"Well, your search party must have left their seeing-eye dogs at home."

"That monster killed Rowan right in front of us!" I exclaim, almost as a plead.

"Get a good look at this monster thing?"

"It didn't stick around for a chat." Wednesday snarks.

"Maybe it was one of your classmates." Principal Weems quickly turns on her heels, scoffing.

"Sheriff, I find that question offensive."

"I don't care, 'cause I got three other dead bodies in the morgue."

"The mayor said those were bear attacks." Principal Weems seemed to be growing more frustrated by the second. So was the Sheriff.

"Well, the mayor and I disagree on that."

"So you automatically assume a Nevermore student is the murderer, even though there's no evidence a crime was even committed."

"I'm sorry. I forgot, you only teach the good outcasts here, right?" We all make our way inside Principal Weems' office.

"My guess is Rowan ran away. State troopers have put out an alert, and I've contacted his family, but they haven't heard from him either."

"Dead people are notoriously bad at returning calls," Wednesday says under her breath. I smile slightly.

"What were you both doing out in the woods with him?"

"I heard a noise in the forest and went to go investigate," Wednesday says.

"I saw her heading into the forest and wanted to make sure she was okay" I add. "That's when we stumbled upon the attack."

"Then what happened?" Sheriff Galpin asks.

"Then I ran into Bianca Barclay, and I told her to go for help. The next thing I remember, I was awaking in my dorm." Wednesday answers. I was shocked she was able to sleep.

"And just to be clear, this monster wasn't a bear or some other wild animal?"

"I've hibernated with grizzlies. I know the difference."

"Thank you, Sheriff. I think Miss Addams is done now." Principal Weems chimes in.

"Actually, I would like to speak to Sheriff Galpin. Alone, with Dahlia" I look at her, making sure I heard right.

"What, why do I gotta stay?" I groan. I soon stop as Wednesday glares in my direction.

"I'm not sure I can allow that."
