"Okay, what do you need now?" I chuckle, leaning against the wall behind Wednesday and I.
"We need to go investigate, this belongs to the Gates mansion" Wednesday holds out a rough sketch of a gate, most likely depicted from her vision.
"All right, you know where this is?" Wednesday nods, beginning to walk. I follow suit, sighing as I wondered what I had just gotten myself into.

"Well, if you were waiting for our horror movie murder, I think we finally found it" I joke, looking beyond us to the mansion, its paint weary from the many years with no care. "Where do we start?"
Before Wednesday can answer, she drags me behind a bush. I stare at her in question before realizing that we weren't the only people here. It was mayor Walker.
"I need a distraction" Wednesday whispers, turning her attention to Thing who was resting against a branch. Mayor Walker now stood only a few feet away from us, pulling his phone out.
"Sherrif, pick up your damn phone. It's Noble" Both Wednesday and I run as quietly and hurriedly as we could as Thing made a distraction.
I stood, confused about what our next step was. Wednesday opens the trunk of the Mayors SUV, getting in and waiting for me to join her. I contemplate my next move, looking over at Mayor Walker who was almost done with his voicemail, and back at Wednesday who was sitting with a questioning look.
"Get in" I sigh, getting in.
"Well, sitting in the back of Mayor Walker's van. What could possibly go wrong?"

I stay seated, making no sudden movements as Mayor Walker closes the car door behind him.
"Do we get out now?" Wednesday nods, quickly doing so. I follow after her, making sure no one was nearby to see us. As we stood a few feet away from the car. Before I could even look up, I hear a loud rev of an engine, followed by a sudden thud.
"Noble!" I looked in the direction of the Sheriff's voice, finding he was holding the Mayor who lay unconscious. Both mine and Wednesday's eyes widened. "Call 911!"
Sheriff Galpins eyes meet ours, his eyes held just as wide as ours.
Soon enough the ambulance arrived, prompting police questioning for both Wednesday and I. After giving quite vague statements, Sheriff Galipn brought us into the Weathervane and we all sat down at a booth.
As we all sat in uncomfortable silence, Sheriff Galpin placed a tape recorder in front of us. "He's alive. Barely" Sheriff Galpin sighs. "I'll take you back after I get your statements."
"I already told you deputy, blue Cadillac with no license plates" Wednesday keeps her expression dull, whereas I was still in shock from the events we had just witnessed.
"Yeah, I know I want a better one. What were you two doing in the mayor's SUV?"
"We saw him coming out of the Gates MAnsion"
"What the hell were you doing there?" Sheriff Galpin asks, growing frustrated by the second.
"House hunting" Wednesday snarks.
"Hermanita" My voice is soft, I could hardly even trust any more words to come out.
"I overheard the voicemail he left you" Wednesday continues. "I was intrigued"
"You, not both of you?" Sheriff Galpin looks at me with questioning eyes.
"I brought her along with me"
"Back when the Mayor was sheriff, he used to have a lot of wild theories on cases he couldn't solve" Sheriff Galpin discards what we were discussing.
"And all signs point to the Gates family and that house."
"The Gates family. How? They're all dead. Every last one of them. And I don't believe in ghosts."
"Maybe you should"

"How do you end up in the center of every bad thing that happens here?" Principle Wweems paces back and forth in front of her fireplace.
"Incredible luck" Wednesday smirks.
"As of now, the school is on full lockdown, and your off-campus privileges are revoked until further notice." Both Wednesday and I turn to leave, though Principal Weems stops us. "Dahlia, stay"
"Oh...okay" I sigh, standing with my arms crossed. Wednesday closes the door behind her, leaving just us alone.
"Dahlia, what were you doing with Wednesday?"
"I was at the Gates mansion?"
"You are not like Wednesday, you don't do things of this sort"
"And how do you know?" I scoff, my grip on my arms growing tighter.
"You can go Dahlia" Principal Weems sighs, sitting back down at her desk. I do as she says, making my way over to Xavier's dorm as if it was a reflex.
As I reach his door, before I can knock, Xavier's door opens to reveal him dressed in a coat and scarf.
"Hey, Xavier where are you going?" I ask a small smile on my face already feeling comforted just by his presence.
"Uh, it doesn't matter" Xavier sighs, shaking his head with a small chuckle. "What are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to hang out, but seriously where are you going?"
"I was going to go to Wednesday's dorm, she's mad at me and I wanted to apologize"
"Oh, uh you can go do that, I'll just go back to my dorm" I laugh, looking down at my shoes.
"Hey, no it's fine we can just hang out"
"No, just go do it" I sigh angrily, turning to leave.
"Dahlia, what's wrong?"
"I just find it kind of funny you know, yesterday you were telling me how frustrated you were with her and how she was investigation you and now you need to go apologize to her"
"Dahlia, come on..."
"No, it's fine, go" I walk away, discarding his arm which rested on mine. I make my way to my dorm, finding it to be empty. I sit down on my bed, gripping my pillow.
I didn't know why I felt like this, I had no right to, he was simply just apologizing to her.
Why the hell was I so angry?
