I was currently standing in front of our team's tent with Enid "You sure this looks good?" I ask Enid, letting her fully examine my cat costume.

"Are you kidding? You look purr-fect!" Enid exclaims, grinning from ear to ear in excitement with her hands held out like claws. I laugh softly at her enthusiasm. We both watch as Wednesday walks out with her black outfit along with her cat ears.

"Hermanita, that costume looks amazing on you!" I gush, knowing how much she hated it.

"OMG, you look purr-fect too! One thing, where are your whiskers?"

"Ask again and you'll be down to eight lives" Wednesday threatened, causing Enid to back away from her. I just laugh, grabbing both girls' hands and making our way over to the rest of the team to prepare.

We currently sat in our canoe, every team beside us. I look over at Xavier and the rest of the team. I have to say, the makeup I did on them made them look amazing, especially Xavier.

"Focus" I hear Wednesday's voice from behind me. I quickly turn to face forward, though it didn't last long as I turn to Bianca, her eyes already fixated on me.

"What do we have here? The runt of the litter" She taunts.

"Bianca I know I look amazing, but please do try to contain yourself, don't need my ego becoming as big as yours," I say, watching as her face turns into one of shock. I smirk in satisfaction. A few people around us laugh, even some people from Bianca's team.

"I want to welcome you all to the Edgar Allan Poe Cup." Principal Weems' voice was heard through the speakers.

"Each team must row across to Raven Island, pull a flag from Crackstone's Crypt, and hustle back without sinking or being sunk. The first team to cross the finish line with their flag wins the cup and bragging rights for a year, as well as some special privileges." She grabs a gun, holding it up. I got ready for it to go off any second. Everyone grabs onto their paddles in anticipation.

"Let the Poe Cup begin!" A gunshot echoes and everyone started paddling. The crowd erupted into loud cheers, and a colorful array of purple, black, yellow, and red flags was being waved by students from different dorms.

I continue to paddle, watching as a few of my teammates start to get tired.

"Come on girls, we can do this!" I encourage. I was lucky I had taken up rowing back home, or else I would've already been taking a break.

"Oh, excuse us!" I hear Xavier's voice taunt as the Joker's group passes us. Asshole.

We continue paddling, the vampires inched closer, both boats now beside each other. We watch as axes rise on the other group's boat. Luckily, everyone ducked, and we were able to keep rowing.

Suddenly, the other group's boat is tipping over, being moved closer to a buoy. I already knew which team was behind this. We all watch as their team tries their best to turn, but to no avail, and their boat is broken into two. As much as I felt bad, I had to beat Bianca.

Both Wednesday and I look further into the water, seeing a tale appear.

"Thing," She says. He appears, holding a thumbs up before pulling one of our boat's levers. I don't know what he did, but I knew our boat was still floating, so I really didn't care. We stop rowing as we reach Crackstones Crypt.

"Dahlia, come on" I nod, getting out with Wednesday.

"Stay here and make sure Bianca doesn't sabotage us" I instruct Enid. She nods as both Wednesday and I leave.
