DSF: "Daddy Issues"

So finally watched Descendants 3 and I'm surprised how well Daddy Issues ending works with the movie. 😁

Chapter 12: Goddess of Love

Weeks have passed since we started the Volunteer Project. After meeting the school board with the King and Future Queen on my side, we were approved for rebuilding Phi's home as one of the many volunteer projects we were doing this year. I was alone in the bakery. Unfortunately, free servitude for the Fruends was denied. The Fruends left me in charge of locking up and cleaning tonight to give me a quiet place to work on some of the reports on the volunteer projects progress. I was doing calculations on our funds when the shop's door opened.

"We're closed," I said not looking up as I cursed myself for not locking up first.

"Not even for some poor unfortunate souls?" A familiar voice spoke making me look up immediately. A smile stretched across my face as I looked at Uma and Gil standing at the entrance hidden beneath cloaks. I stood up walking over and pulling the two in an embrace. "So someone's really been making a name for herself." I could hear the tease in her voice and as I looked at the poster she pointed at. I groaned.

"Ugh, don't even mention that," I grumbled walking away from them. I invited them to take a seat as I invited them to anything behind the counter as our pastries and desserts were always freshly made in the morning anyway. I spelled them a disguise for anyone taking a late stroll and so they could take off their cloaks and rest. I listened to their stories of exploring the seven seas.

"You have to experience it," Uma smiled as her eyes shined with wonder. "Hearing about it isn't enough." Gil let out a burp as he laid down across the aisle between two booths on a full stomach.

"Maybe, one day," I smiled leaning back. "That's the beauty of this place. It doesn't have to be today, tomorrow, but I'll have a whole lifetime for that."

"If you don't get caught," Uma pointed out and I smiled as I lit my hand a flame.

"You really think they could put me back?" I raised an eyebrow, "each day that passes, the stronger I become. Soon, there won't be a prison they could lock me in." Uma's smile grew wider.

"That's exactly what I needed to hear," Uma smiled. I narrowed my eyes at her as I caught the mischief in her eyes.

"Uma..."

"We got to take it down," Uma said, "how could we truly be happy here when the rest of our people are trapped in that godforsaken bubble?"

"No, I'm not doing it," I frowned leaning back in my chair. "Those are your people, not mine. Everything they touch, they ruin." I may be from the isle and I may be a VK, but I wasn't blinded like Uma, who considered that entire island connected to her. Some of those people, those who staked a claim and abused their power, those that bullied and enslaved the weak and less fortunate, they are still in there and that's where they needed to stay. I saved my kids from that. They weren't going around that again.

"What about the kids?" Uma said making me look up from my thoughts and at her, "the ones you abandoned?"

"Those that stayed behind chose to stay behind," I said glaring at her.

"True Lias they were," Uma said leaning forward resting her face on her palm, "sacrificing freedom for family." She gave a small shrug of her shoulders as she smiled. "Well, they'll learn once they regret. At least you did." My fists clenched at my side.

"Uma, you're swimming in dark waters here," I said through clenched teeth as my eyes flashed blue at her.

"Dizzy." My hands set aflame and I quickly raised them to avoid burning the table. Uma smirked as I glared. I opened my mouth to kick her out, but she added.
