Chapter 2: Distant Bonds

Even after watching the gold magical bridge disappear along with the limo shrunken from the distance, I stayed at the edge of the roof sitting on the railing with my feet dangling just staring at the breathtaking view of Auradon. I wasn't going to lie. After researching and reading about all the history of how the place came to be, I had always been curious on exploring that world myself. The idea of being able to be free of this place once my sister stole the wand made my stomach flip with excitement. Despite it being my dream to break free from this place, I don't mind waiting a little while longer to make my sister happy. Ever since she was born, I had her under my wing. Besides this mission would change the dynamic between my mother and Mal. Mal has something to prove, so why not let her prove it?

I went back home ignoring the celebration going on between the four old timers in the living room. I went up to Mal's and my room. The room felt empty especially now that Mal was off the Isle. I laid on my bed closing my eyes.

"Shed the distance, shed the time, take me to the ring like mine, Mal" I chanted as I rubbed the ring. The first thing I heard to assure me I was no longer in my room was the preppy, loud music. I quickly covered up my ears as I looked around. The band was in the center playing and holding up welcome banners as they swung side to side like bobble head dolls. There were other people spread out around the rest of the garden cheering and applauding. What in the apples are they so happy about anyway? Standing tall and high right behind them was a giant gold statue of the King. I wonder how much that would be worth? Do they have a black market in Auradon? If not, there will be when we're free. Definitely have to make note of taking that statue there.

"Ow! Ow! Stop! You got everything else, why do you want whatever this is?" Carlos's complaint broke me from my observation. I turned to see Jay had Carlos pinned down to the driveway with his foot on his chest as they fought for a long piece of clothing. I noticed Jay had some black box in his other hand.

"Because you want it!" Jay retorted as they continued to fight. The band suddenly stopped playing as they watched the scandal.

"Ah!" Carlos complained.

"Give it to me!" Jay argued. The band formed a gap in the center again and a woman in a purple dress and pink giant bow with a freakishly large smile came walking toward us with a boy and a girl behind her. It didn't take me long to figure out who she was. By her appearance, despite that it's a bit different than it used to be, I could only assume. She was the Fairy God Mother.

"No!" Carlos refused.

"Let go!" Jay shouted.

"Guys! Guys!" Mal harsh whispered covering her mouth to hide that she was warning the boys before facing the woman. "We have an audience."

"Just cleaning up," Jay laughed with a cheesy smile on his face as he looked at the woman before he looked down at Carlos. "Get up!" Jay quickly helped Carlos back onto his feet practically knocking him over again from how forceful he was.

"Leave it like you found it," The woman replied smiling, "and by that, I mean just leave it." Jay threw the stuff he took back into the limo including the piece of cloth Carlos and him were fighting for.

"Hello, Foxy," Jay said walking up barely noticing the girl standing behind Fairy Godmother, "the name is-"

"Casanova?" I replied making my presence known making the other four jump.

"Mal!" He said turning to complain at her. Mal rose her hands before she nodded her head my way.

"Got to choose better lines, Jay," I tsked. He rolled his eyes at me before drawing his attention back to the girl who laughed nervously and awkwardly.
